In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Systems Engineering, Balance of Plant is currently hiring for a Engineer / Engineering Trainee.
This is a temporary position which may be for a period of up to 24 months, offers a competitive compensation package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:
Will provide technical information/advice to the Section Manager, Balance of Plant and others as required.
Is responsible for the planning, evaluating, advising or reporting on any activity which requires the application of engineering principles in Bruce Power facility.
Maintains instructions and procedures up to date, prepare reports, review proposals from external organizations.
Participates in training programs as required.
Specific Accountabilities:
Provides technical evaluations, advice and solves problems in assigned area and/or systems in support of operation and maintenance of the facilities.
Receives assignments from Supervisor as well as identifies potential system threats/risks and opportunities in assigned areas and/or systems in the facility.
Discusses with other personnel internal and external to the company regarding to proposed solutions on threats/risks as required.
Discusses installation or implementation with persons concerned, and ensures, where possible, that the installation is as intended.
Keeps abreast of maintenance and operating problems and takes action to implement change as appropriate.
The work will include operability assessments for non standard configuration of components and systems and developing recommendations to resolve the non standard condition via permanent fix or mitigating actions.
Analyze non-standard station technical problems, or problems requiring an advanced level of expertise. (e.g. in the area of system, structure or component (SSC) design, performance, reactor safety/licensing, project management). Provide advice, assess proposed solutions, develop and/or implement approved solutions.
Provide functional advice and accountability in the areas of technical expertise, risk mitigation, process development and job co-ordination as it relates to the execution of work programs.
Keep informed regarding internal and external issues and solutions in the assigned area. Apply this knowledge by making technical improvements, where deemed necessary.
Independently manage his/her work and make process improvements to benefit the company. (e.g. Improve process efficiency, reduce corporate cost). Make high level, independent decisions and challenge the status quo, where deemed necessary.
Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Station working experience is a great asset for the job.
Requires knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, electricity, engineering and economics to technically understand the operation of the facility.
Requires advanced knowledge of one or more of these subjects to evaluate and propose improvements to processes, equipment and systems or to unit safety, reliability and performance.
Requires knowledge of English in order to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations both verbally and in writing.
Requires experience to solve problems, to provide advice and guidance, to initiate developmental studies and to make recommendations during the design, commissioning and operation of a nuclear facility; to evaluate components or materials, and to perform economic studies and evaluations associated with the design, commissioning and operation of a nuclear facility.
Education and Experience:
Engineer (Occupation Code 670325)
Completion of a 4-year University degree. Mechanical Engineering Discipline is preferred.
An Ontario Professional Engineering designation is required (P.Eng.).
A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years’ experience is considered necessary.
Engineering Trainee (Occupation Code 670207)
Completion of a 4-year University degree. Mechanical Engineering Discipline is preferred.
Required to obtain a valid Professional Engineers of Ontario certification.
A period of over 2 years and up to and including 4 years experience is considered necessary.
