Senior Service Engineer, Propulsion

Are you ready to jump onboard?&nbsp;What will you be doing?&nbsp;As a Senior Field Service Engineer – Propulsion, you will perform field service work activities related to propulsion equipment, including installation, repair and maintenance of propulsion gearboxes, OD boxes, clutches, couplings, shafting, bearings and seals, controllable pitch propellers, thrusters, and waterjets.&nbsp;This position reports to the Field Service Resources Coordinator.&nbsp;Candidates are expected to display a high level of critical thinking and reasoning skills, identify as high performers, as well as being self-motivating. &nbsp;Accountabilities:&nbsp;<ul><li>Responsible for performing complex and advanced troubleshooting on specific equipment and equipment families in relation to Wärtsilä systems.</li><li>Acts as a Senior Engineer for complex marine installations and as a system specialist for assisting Commissioning Engineers to lead product related commissioning activities as required.</li><li>Perform advanced troubleshooting on site to isolate and find root causes of failures in propulsion mechanical and hydraulic equipment. </li><li>Lead and manage assigned self/team while on site, interacting with the customer to arrange for proper schedule to achieve desired scope. </li><li>Keep track of work details and provide in depth reports including all the necessary details. (Measurements, photos, way of working, investigations, etc.).</li><li>Keep track and provide an accounting of time, spare parts used. </li><li>Proactively advise and promote available products and solutions to customers. </li><li>Provide internal and external work reports according to Wärtsilä standards and perform site audits.</li><li>Proactively advises and promotes available products and solutions to customers.</li><li>In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties within their capabilities which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.</li></ul>&nbsp;Duties and Responsibilities:&nbsp;<ul><li>Interact professionally with customers during the work execution.</li><li>Perform internal and external progress status of the assigned work.</li><li>Creating the Service Work Reports.</li><li>Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines and site procedures.</li><li>Follow-up and report on the status of work orders to customers and/or internal stakeholders.</li><li>Continuously seek solutions according to best practices.</li></ul>&nbsp;To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:&nbsp;<ul><li>A safety-first mindset</li><li>Preferred MSc or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering, or equivalent work experience</li><li>Experience with many aspects of marine propulsion systems: transverse thrusters, steerable thrusters, retractable thrusters, underwater mountable thrusters, controllable and fixed pitch propellers, and gearboxes.</li><li>Good time management and organizational skills - able to effectively manage a dynamic workload.</li><li>Understanding the importance of quality</li><li>Theoretical and practical knowledge on maintenance procedures.</li><li>Theoretical and practical knowledge on workshop maintenance.</li><li>Theoretical and practical knowledge on tools handling and mechanical components dimensional inspection.</li><li>Theoretical and practical knowledge on hydraulic tools handling.</li><li>Theoretical and practical knowledge on lifting tools handling and procedures.</li><li>Knowledge of Electrical and Automation systems will be a plus.</li><li>Excellent ability to cooperate and communicate with other people and advanced command of English, both oral and written </li></ul>&nbsp;As an ideal candidate, we expect you to have:&nbsp;<ul><li>High integrity</li><li>Passionate about people</li><li>Customer focus</li><li>Strong focus on quality and safety</li><li>Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in languages needed to support the team</li><li>Good negotiating skills</li><li>Strong organizational skills</li><li>Team player mindset</li><li>Ability to lead persons of different cultural backgrounds</li></ul>&nbsp;Successful applicants must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.&nbsp;For applicants that reside in BC, the hourly salary rate range is $42.00 CAD - $48.00 CAD. &nbsp;For applicants that reside in CA/CO/WA, the hourly salary rate range is $42.00 - $48.00.&nbsp;For applicants that reside in NY, the hourly salary rate range is $43.00 - $49.00.&nbsp;The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Eligibility to participate in: the discretionary incentive plan assigned to the level of position upon offer of employment; medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plan and flexible spending accounts, subject to plan terms; Company-paid benefits such as life insurance, short- and long-term disability, subject to applicable waiting periods. Paid time off (PTO) is accrued on a per-pay period basis in accordance with tenure in the Company; a new hire can expect 17 days per year. Twelve (12) Company-paid holidays.&nbsp;Travel Requirements: &nbsp;This position requires a 70% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international, including onshore and offshore locations.
