Role Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced NPI (New Product Introduction) PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This individual, reporting to Product & Process Development Manager, will be responsible for driving the process design, development, and improvement for new product introductions, ensuring seamless transition from prototyping to production. The ideal candidate will have expertise in PCBA manufacturing processes, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally to meet product development and manufacturing goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Product Introduction (NPI):
- Lead the NPI process for PCBAs, ensuring successful transition from design to manufacturing.
- Collaborate with product design, quality, and manufacturing teams to understand design requirements and constraints.
- Provide technical guidance on PCB assembly design for manufacturability (DFM) and testability (DFT).
- Process Development & Optimization:
- Develop and optimize PCBA manufacturing processes, including SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and through-hole processes, ensuring high-quality production.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce cycle time, cost, and defects.
- Select appropriate materials, components, and tools for the PCBA manufacturing process.
- Process Validation & Troubleshooting:
- Conduct process validations, including assembly, soldering, and inspection processes.
- Identify root causes and troubleshoot issues related to PCBA manufacturing processes, including but not limited to soldering defects, misalignments, and component placement issues.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with design engineers and quality team to ensure manufacturability of designs and help resolve any issues related to assembly processes.
- Provide regular feedback and updates to cross-functional teams regarding progress and roadblocks.
- Participate in design reviews and risk assessments during the NPI phase.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, cycle time, and defect rates.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve PCBA processes.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability in production.
Qualifications:
- Master/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing process engineering, preferably in an NPI or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of PCB assembly processes, including SMT, through-hole, reflow, wave soldering, ICT/FCT/FVT and AOI.
- Familiarity with PCB design software (e.g., Altium, Eagle) and ECAD tools.
- Knowledge of process optimization techniques and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in Greek and English language. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with quality standards such as IPC-610, IPC-2221, and ISO 9001 is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with automated assembly equipment and processes (e.g., pick-and-place, solder paste inspection).
- Knowledge of reliability testing (e.g., thermal cycling, vibration).
- Experience with ERP/MES systems for production scheduling and tracking.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to PCBA and electronics manufacturing.
- Experience of Lean 6S is considered a plus.
