Job Summary:

The MES Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions that drive production efficiency and data accuracy. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the Rockwell FTPC platform, Vaadin, SQL Server, JBoss, ActiveMQ, and RESTful API development, with expertise in integrating MES with PLC systems and enterprise applications such as SAP and PLM. In addition, experience with various communication protocols is required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop custom MES applications using platforms such as Rockwell FTPC and Vaadin.
  • Integrate MES solutions with PLC systems to ensure real-time data capture and operational control.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to enable seamless data exchange between MES, ERP (SAP), PLM, and other enterprise systems.
  • Implement and maintain connectivity using multiple communication protocols (e.g., OPC/UA, Siemens Ethernet, Rockwell Ethernet, FTP) to support diverse industrial equipment and networks.

System Configuration & Deployment:

  • Configure and deploy MES solutions in a production environment, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
  • Utilize SQL Server for database design, development, and maintenance, including query optimization and reporting functionalities.
  • Manage and configure JBoss application server and ActiveMQ messaging services to support robust application deployment and inter-system communication.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for MES applications and their integrations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and IT, to diagnose and resolve system issues.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system architecture, code repositories, integration protocols, and troubleshooting guides.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Analyze existing MES systems and workflows to identify opportunities for enhancements and process automation.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices to continuously improve MES performance, integration capabilities, and system connectivity.
  • Develop and implement rigorous testing strategies to ensure reliability, security, and efficiency of new code and system integrations.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. With 3+ years’ experience in below mentioned skills and domain
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven experience with the Rockwell FTPC platform for MES development.
    • Strong proficiency in the Vaadin framework for building dynamic web-based MES applications.
    • Expertise in SQL Server for effective database design, development, and maintenance.
    • Hands-on experience with JBoss application server and ActiveMQ for managing messaging services.
    • Solid understanding of RESTful API design and development for system integration.
    • Demonstrated experience integrating MES solutions with PLC systems and enterprise applications, such as SAP and PLM.

Programming Skills:

  • Core Java, J2EE, Spring, REST Web services, SQL Server
  • Rockwell - FTPC, MF, EIHUB, FTSP, FT Live Transfer, FT Purge
  • Vaadin framework, HTML, XML, Java Script
  • Eclipse, Jasper report, I-Text PDF tools

Development & Integration:

    • Proficient in modern programming languages and development frameworks relevant to MES development.
    • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies.
    • Experience with middleware and system integration tools to facilitate communication between diverse systems.

Communication Protocols & Integration:

    • Proficiency in various industrial communication protocols, including OPC/UA, Siemens Ethernet, Rockwell Ethernet, and FTP.
    • Experience in implementing and troubleshooting communication interfaces between MES, industrial controllers, and other networked devices.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
    • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of MES applications, with a focus on efficient data exchange and system reliability.

Communication & Collaboration:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to translate technical requirements into actionable solutions and maintain clear documentation.
    • Proven track record of working collaboratively in fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment.
    • Familiarity with additional enterprise systems beyond SAP and PLM.
    • Experience with DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
