About the Job
Joby Overview
Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated and organized manufacturing test engineer to help with the development of End-of-Line (EoL) test equipment for airborne electronics such as low voltage computers, high voltage power electronics, motors, and servos. The position is based in our San Carlos location, and the manufacturing test engineer will actively work with various teams at Joby Aviation, including design engineering, manufacturing engineering, production, integration and test, quality, certification and more. This role will operate in a fast paced, demanding, and rewarding environment with very high expectations for individual contribution.

- Establish test plans based on defined requirements and design and build proof of concepts of test stations.
- Interface with cross functional teams (including software, hardware design, manufacturing, process, quality and certification) to ensure that the EoL testers meets test and conforming requirements
- Scope and develop automated test stations by working with internal teams or external vendors. Making sure that the test stations meets the testing, manufacturing implementation and integration, and safety requirements
- Carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits during the design and development of the test stations
- Coordinate with factory teams to plan and place test stations, and to interface with factory data systems
- Support hardware build, develop test software, debug, validate, and fine-tune the test station for release to production
- Support the manufacturing and the operations team in the deployment, bring up, and debug of the EoL test station. In addition, define operation, maintenance, and calibration requirements for each Acceptance Tester
- Complete the necessary documentation needed for conformance.
- Help fix non-conforming assemblies/systems and develop the capability to test systems. Drive improvement and development decisions
