About the Job

At SMA America, we believe in Energy that Changes. Since 1981, SMA has been developing innovative solar technology with a purpose -- making the installation, operation, and maintenance of photovoltaic power plants simpler, more reliable, safer and more cost effective. In the meantime, we’ve also been collecting awards as a great place to work, providing growth opportunities to our employees, and challenging conventional thought.

The Spare Parts Manager is a critical individual contributor role responsible for end-to-end

management of SMA's spare parts operations across North America. This role ensures optimal

inventory levels and product mix are maintained to support our field service teams, customer

repair needs, and long-term service reliability.

The Spare Parts Manager serves as the key interface between Service, Supply Chain,

Procurement, and Headquarters, driving alignment and execution on inventory planning, logistics

coordination, and supplier fulfillment. This role also manages consignment inventories, trunk stock

for Field Service Engineers (FSEs), and strategic stock locations across the U.S. and Canada.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory Strategy & Planning

· Develop and maintain spare parts planning models to ensure the right mix and levels of

inventory are available to meet customer and service demands.

· Analyze usage patterns, failure rates, and lead times to optimize stocking strategies and

reduce service-related downtime.

· Coordinate safety stock levels, reorder points, and replenishment strategies based on

installed base and regional demand.

Consignment & Trunk Stock Management

· Oversee all consignment inventory locations and ensure contractual performance and stock

accuracy.

· Manage the deployment, tracking, and optimization of Field Service Engineer (FSE) trunk

stock across the region.

· Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to ensure stock visibility and accountability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Collaborate closely with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure accurate forecasting,

supplier readiness, and delivery schedules.

· Act as the regional point of contact with SMA Headquarters to align on global spare parts

strategy, product lifecycle changes, and critical escalations.

Operational Execution

· Support field and depot repair operations by ensuring timely availability of high-priority and

long-lead-time components.

· Maintain spare parts master data accuracy, including part numbers, lead times, and

technical specifications.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

· Track and report on KPIs including fill rate, stockout rate, aging inventory, and service

impact due to parts availability.

· Identify slow-moving and obsolete inventory and recommend action plans to reduce carrying costs.

Additional Information:

  • Compensation: $104,000 - $134,000 annually
  • Comprehensive benefits including health/dental/vision with $0 premium options, 401k with match, advanced training and education opportunities, etc.
