About the Job

At InnerPlant (www.innerplant.com) we are reimagining the role of crops in our farming system, developing crops that can tell us what they need by turning plants into Living Sensors. Our Smart Seeds signal early and specific stressors in a scalable and affordable way to reduce chemical and fertilizer use while increasing yields, delivering more with less.

We’re backed by industry giant John Deere and other veteran venture capitalists and are poised for massive growth to realize a more productive and sustainable farming system. InnerPlant is a place for dreamers and optimists, people that believe they can change the world and that want to take action to leave a positive lasting impact. If you share these traits and have a relentless drive to deliver under pressure - this is the opportunity for you.

InnerPlant is rolling out its first products in the Midwest. Our mission is to empower retailers, agronomists, and farmers with real-time, actionable data insights to optimize crop health and yield. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Field Sales Manager. This is a critical role responsible for driving grower enrollment–one of the most important metrics for InnerPlant’s success.

The Field Sales Manager will work closely with our Director of Sales and other team members to build relationships and generate business with retailers, ensure seamless onboarding and training of retail locations, and engage with growers to demonstrate the value of our products and technology. The ideal candidate will have a background or interest in agronomy, sales, and high-touch service and be passionate about driving innovation in agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the go-to-market strategy and achieve sales targets in territory
  • Own the retail partner relationship across your assigned territory, calling on both executive leadership and location-level staff to build buy-in across the organization
  • Drive strategic sales by positioning InnerPlant as a valuable partner to the retailer's business, helping them differentiate, generate incremental margin, and deliver better outcomes to their growers
  • Fully onboard retail customers, including training sales agronomists and crop advisors to understand and champion the value of InnerPlant's tools and technologies
  • Collaborate with retail customers to execute sales efforts and enroll growers in InnerPlant’s products
  • Support the development and execution of marketing campaigns and promotional activities, including hosting grower meetings and technology demonstrations in the field
  • Provide ongoing support and engagement with retail customers and growers to ensure they understand and benefit of our technology, including field visits
  • Maintain a timely account of field activities, including maintenance of customer relationship management software
  • Participate in virtual meetings and coordinate with colleagues based in California, leveraging remote work/collaboration tools and technologies.
  • Gather feedback from users to inform continuous improvement of our products and services

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Business, or a related field
  • Experience in agronomy, sales, customer success, or related fields is welcomed but not required.
  • Desire to grow and succeed in a customer-facing role in the agriculture industry
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to meet or exceed sales targets and quotas
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools to manage outreach/touchpoints and track progress towards sales targets
  • Passionate about agriculture and technology
  • Enthusiasm for working with a dynamic startup where goals and resources may shift frequently
  • Willingness to travel often within assigned regional territory
  • Valid driver license
