We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully.Role OverviewThe Government Affairs Manager — West will develop and execute a strategy to support Serve’s growth and expansion into new markets across the Western United States, with a focus on Los Angeles and California. You will build relationships with lawmakers, governmental agencies, nonprofits, and other stakeholders and advocate for the future of autonomous delivery.Responsibilities<ul style=""><li>Develop relationships with lawmakers, governmental agencies, nonprofits and other stakeholders</li><li>Identify, monitor, and analyze policy issues affecting Serve Robotics across North America</li><li>Articulate our public policy positions in briefing memos, advocacy letters, blog posts, and other external facing documents</li><li>Represent the organization before legislative and regulatory bodies, at townhalls, and in oral testimony</li><li>Coordinate with functional and technical team members as appropriate</li><li>Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on government affairs activities, outcomes, and key performance indicators, as well as the performance and development of the broader public policy team.</li><li>Work with product and operations teams on potential product expansion with key focus on building positive storytelling and acceptance in the regulatory space.</li><li>Manage external firms, lobbyists, trade associations, and other 3rd party groups on behalf of the company.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul style=""><li>4+ Years of experience in government relations, public policy, political organizing, legislative staffing, public affairs, or related field</li><li>2+ Years of experience working with policymakers across different political parties</li><li>Bachelor’s degree</li><li>Familiarity with legislative cycles, processes, operations, best practices, strategies, workflows, and stakeholder correspondence</li><li>Experience managing consulting teams and lobbyists</li><li>Strong writing and presentation skills including preparing briefing documents, analyses, policy and legislative recommendations, correspondence, requests for information, and other legislative documents.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills, including experience speaking at conferences, and attending and staffing official engagements, events, meetings, and/or travel.</li><li>Proven ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including executives and build effective relationships</li><li>Demonstrated success in developing and implementing government relations strategies, preferably in the tech or micromobility sectors</li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build consensus</li><li>Proficient in setting clear objectives and meeting them, with the ability to measure and communicate the impact of government relations initiatives</li><li>Experience working with business operations, financial and legal team members</li><li>Ability to travel 30% of the time.</li></ul>
