Technician in Charge/Lead Technician

$5,000 Sign-On Bonus!!*

Transdev in Lakewood, WA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Automotive Technician to join our team. The Lead Automotive Technician will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of our Automotive technician team, ensuring the timely and efficient diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of Automotive vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $34.50/hour (thirty-four dollars and fifty cents) Maximum $36.00/hour (thirty six dollars)
  • Shift is Monday-Friday - 3:00pm-11:30pm. 

Benefits include:

  • $5,000 (five thousand) sign on bonus. Conditions Apply.*
  • Eligible for $1.00/hr (one dollar) PM Shift Differential Pay.
  • Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks.
  • Sick days: 1 hour earned for every 40 hours worked.
  • Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating holidays.
  • Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability.
  • Company paid ASE testing and training materials. ASE certification stipend pay for every successful certification.
  • Annual Reimbursement for PPE eye protection and work boot based on qualifying conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and prioritize the workload of the Automotive technician team, assigning tasks and ensuring that all work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues in Automotive vehicles and equipment.
  • Manage inventory levels of parts and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels to support maintenance and repair activities while minimizing waste and excess inventory.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Automotive engines, transmissions, brakes, and other components, adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Supervises maintenance operations and shop employees.  Plans and distributes the work.  Delegates responsibilities as appropriate and monitors performance.  While involved in reviewing personnel actions (e.g., hiring, promotions and discipline), all such actions are further reviewed and approved by higher management.
  • Supervises bus fueling and vehicle cleaning. Assist with UST record keeping, and reporting requirements associated with fuel logs.
  • Coordinate services for building and ground keeping with vendor and landlord.
  • Other duties as required.

          Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent): Not applicable.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience as an Automotive technician, with demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing Automotive engines and related systems.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Computer skills, to include familiarity with MS Office suite.
  • Must be able to obtain two ASE certification within 12 months of employment, with certification type based on needs of the shop at the time of employment, to maintain shop’s ASE Blue

      Seal annual certification

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and maintains active DOT medical card (company paid exam).
  • Work extended hours regularly, including both holidays and weekends in accordance with business needs.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

 

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Must meet current DOT medical certification requirements.
    • Work inside and outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed working alone or supervising other shop personnel.
    • Stand for extended periods (up to 4–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
    • Push and pull objects up to 50 lbs. pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
    • Exposed and subject to maintenance shop and environmental outdoor working conditions to include working in rain, cold, hot, snow and other weather impacted conditions.
    • Must be able to work in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic’s dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment; subjected to dust, dirt, and grease conditions.
