JOB PURPOSE

 

In this role traversing corporate finance, M&A, and business strategy, this person will have the unique opportunity to be the strategic finance lead for Pattern's Distributed Generation (DG) business unit. This position will evaluate and execute on opportunities for Pattern’s existing DG platforms, strategize monetization pathways for the platform's project pipeline, lead DG financings as needed and optimize the business unit’s capital structure.

 

A core focus of the role will be leading the financial evaluation and strategic assessment of M&A opportunities. This includes financial modeling, managing due diligence efforts, and developing investment theses in collaboration with financial advisors and key stakeholders.

 

There will be opportunities to make meaningful impacts on key decisions that will shape the future of DG at Pattern. Other primary duties of this role include forecasting, analyzing, and reporting the business unit’s financial performance to executive leaders, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders. This role will work hand-in-hand with the Head of DG and often directly with the management teams at Pattern’s DG portfolio companies

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Support M&A transactions, and corporate strategy by leading due diligence, financial analysis, stakeholder engagement, and documentation elements
  • Develop, assess and execute structures/opportunities for DG portfolio monetization
  • Maintain, update and build new functionality to the DG corporate financial model
  • Interface with DG portfolio company management teams to provide guidance, aggregate information for corporate modeling and identify business constraints/opportunities
  • Improve the business unit’s organizational structure through process improvement and standardization
  • Generate internal / external reporting products around business unit capital needs and performance
  • Identify and quantify key investment drivers and perform sensitivities around market factors and trends
  • Collaborate and interface cross-functionally with colleagues on other teams, such as structured finance, strategic finance, and corporate development, as well as external clients.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or related area combined with at least 5-8 years of project finance, corporate finance, or M&A experience within a financial firm or energy operating company
  • 3-4 years of business reporting, portfolio underwriting, capital raising, or corporate valuation work
  • Advanced degree and/or CFA certification is optional
  • Project Finance acquisition, management or transaction experience preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and understanding of relevant financial and mathematical modelling techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express ideas effectively and fluently.
  • Ability to work with others to meet deadlines, effective at engagement and driving results towards common corporate goals
  • Ability to synthesize data and complex concepts into informed recommendations and concise presentations
  • Must be thorough, thoughtful, and able to perform well under pressure
  • Ability to organize time well and set proper priorities.

Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and presentation software

The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000 - $139,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance program, paid time off and bonding leave, paid holidays, 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contribution, and employee referral bonuses.
