These leadership qualities are essential for guiding the tax function and ensuring its alignment with the company's goals.You’ll be responsible for the following:<ul><li>Be the lead tax business partner for Bord Gáis Energy and Centrica’s other businesses in Ireland, providing Irish tax advice across all taxes</li><li>Represent Tax on the Bord Gáis Energy Finance Leadership team, be the main point of contact for the Bord Gáis Energy CFO on tax matters and lead the annual tax presentation to the Bord Gáis Energy board of directors</li><li>Build and maintain a strong and open relationship with Irish Revenue, delivering the annual self review under the Cooperative Compliance Framework</li><li>Ensure a robust control framework is established and maintained for all taxes, ensuring governance and risk documentation in Ireland is maintained</li><li>Drive a programme of transformation and of continuous improvement for Tax in Ireland, working closely with the Tax Transformation Manager in the UK and the wider change teams</li><li>Oversee the preparation of all tax returns and required documentation for all Irish businesses including corporate income tax, VAT, Carbon Tax, and Transfer Pricing with support from external advisers</li><li>Manage relationships with all external advisers</li><li>Ensure all budget and legislative changes are understood and implemented across all systems in Ireland</li><li>Deliver training or other support to ensure the Irish businesses remain compliant with all tax obligations</li></ul>Here's what we’re looking for: <ul><li>Extensive experience and general technical knowledge of Irish taxation and a working knowledge of transfer pricing and international tax</li><li>Experience acting as tax business partner</li><li>Ability to research tax technical issues independently</li><li>Tax qualification and tax work experience in-house is strongly preferred. By exception, an accounting qualification and/or relevant tax technical or reporting experience can be considered.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills enabling efficient interaction with Finance and other stakeholders (internal and external) and effective collaboration within and outside the Tax team</li><li>Proven ability to take initiative/ownership of the issue and to achieve results under pressure and with imperfect/incomplete information</li><li>Ability to work independently and be self-motivated</li></ul>Why should you apply?       We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place.
