Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Act as first level escalation point for manufacturing/process issues.
  • Lead efforts to initiate both temporary and permanent manufacturing changes.
  • Work with local Flextronics teams and Xylem cross-functional teams to assist toward resolution of production challenges.
  • Define and implement manufacturing process from new product launch to full release.
  • Provide and review hourly capacity through cycle time analysis.
  • Document and maintain process maps and design of floor layout.
  • Create/ modify/ review manufacturing work instructions.
  • Assist to maintain previously designed and deployed manufacturing equipment.
  • Continuously refine and improve manufacturing processes, methods, and metrics to ultimately reduce product cost.
  • Identify, analyze, root cause, and initiate corrective action when product design failures are uncovered by the test and/or process.
  • Lead/Partner with LSS (Lean Six Sigma) counterparts for continuous improvement initiatives and cost savings opportunities.
  • Analyze and quantify data to resolve process, test, and operational issues.
  • DFx (Design for manufacturability/assembly)

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Knowledge and experience with Product/Process Engineering
  • Knowledge of manufacturing assembly processes: soldering (including solder joint characteristics), conformal coating, adhesive bonding, welding, and precision mechanical assembly
  • Strong understanding of IPC (Institute of Printed Circuit Board) standards
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Lean Six Sigma concepts.
  • MS Office software applications
  • Strong analytical, technical, problem-solving skills
  • Must have ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated; able to demonstrate initiative and operate independently.
  • Desire and ability to learn new tools and design techniques.
  • Ability to evaluate and make recommendations on cost control, reliability and manufacturability issues and maintains aggressive development schedules.
  • Display organizational and leadership skills in a project team environment.
