What You’ll Do:
As Assistant Site Supervisor, you will report directly to the Site Manager and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mont Louis wind farm. Your primary workplace will be the Mont Louis wind farm, but you may be required to work at other Northland Power facilities from time to time.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintaining shift operating logs and recordsand preparing reports related to site production, performance, and maintenance 

  • Responding to operation requests coming from Hydro-Quebec Transmission Operator  

  • Observing and ensuring the remote monitoring center is responding to Hydro-Quebec  Transmission Operator requests 

  • Monitoring of the proper functioning of telemetry, communication and SCADA systems data provided to Hydro-Quebec Transmission Operator 

  • Monitoring and planning the work of the snow removal team 

  • Coordinating service suppliers to site for specific works and ensuring  Health and Safety and Environmental best practices are followed 

  • Resolve technical and maintenance issues, escalating issues to supporting engineering functions when required 

  • Responding to site alarms and trip events, providing preliminary troubleshooting and engaging contractors as required 

  • Performing mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance tasks, inspections, and troubleshootingon balance-of-plant and wind turbine equipment as required 

  • Observing and ensuring completion and quality of work carried out by the turbine maintenance provider  

  • Planning required maintenance for site equipment considering equipment requirements, operational needs, and Northland’s best practices 

  • Procuring and maintaining spare equipment as needed for the site 

  • Performing inspections on wind turbines, including climbing 80 meter vertical towers and entering confined spaces; recording and reporting the results of such inspections 

  • Participating in compliance and reliability programs including following requirements, collecting evidence and responding to audits and inquiries as required 

  • Participating in different operations and health and safety meetings 

  • Participating in creating and managing the site budget 

  • Monitoring and maintaining the infrastructure of the facility, including roadways, collection systems and transmission lines 

  • Playing a role in the implementation of and adherence to safety and environmental systems and procedures for all employees, contractors, and visitors in order to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Northland's safety and environmental procedures. 

 

Qualifications and Experience:  

  • Significant experience and knowledge of leading an onshore wind site and wind turbines operations 

  • Experience in performing maintenance and trouble-shooting of power generation equipment 

  • Experience managing safety programs that include Electrical, Fall Arrest & High Angle Emergency Decent, and Confined Space 

  • Education and/or training in an electrical or mechanical discipline  

  • Safety:  Demonstrated ability to foster a safety culture and prioritize a safe approach to all work 

  • Understanding of Safety Procedures: Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations for wind turbines is essential.  

  • Organizational Skills: Must be able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records.  

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to interact with various personnel and document activities.  

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during wind turbine operations.  

  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using office software is expected
