Job description<br>                                <div style="text-align:justify;">We are currently seeking a new <strong>Senior Expert (or Professional*)</strong> for our Climate Policy Team based in Berlin. You will lead our work analysing global pathways aligned with the Paris Agreement’s long-term temperature goal and assessing the implications of these global pathways for different sectors and countries. This role bridges quantitative and qualitative policy analysis and includes developing tools and methods for tracking climate mitigation action and providing scientific assessments of fossil-fuel phase-out and zero carbon scale-up requirements in Paris Agreement compatible pathways. It also includes providing evidence-based analysis of different mitigation options and their benefits and potential trade-offs. Furthermore, you will line manage a small number of staff and actively contribute to and lead on the development and acquisition of new projects.</div><br><strong>Your responsibilities</strong><ul><li style="text-align:justify;">You develop new and maintain existing analytical pipelines to assess the results of integrated assessment models (IAMs), including the analysis of pathway ensembles.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Using these pathways and other lines of evidence, you help develop and communicate global and national benchmarks for sector decarbonization in line with the Paris Agreement’s long term temperature goal.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">You work in partnerships with IAM modelling groups to further develop scenario protocols and improve the representation of mitigation options in models, for example focusing on hard-to-abate sectors and new technologies to accelerate a fossil phaseout.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">You coordinate with project partners and relevant stakeholders – both internally and externally and maintain relationships with collaborators.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">You ensure scientific integrity of your work and the work of others.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">You contribute to scientific articles on the topic.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">You represent Climate Analytics and project teams in meetings and conferences and disseminate project results.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">You line manage up to five staff members.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">You contribute to and lead the development and acquisition of new projects.</li></ul>                            Your profile<br>                                <div style="text-align:justify;">You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:</div><ul><li><div style="text-align:justify;">Hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification research experience.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">Knowledge of integrated assessment models and modelling of deep mitigation pathways at the global/regional/national level.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">Specific sectoral expertise, knowledge of land-use modelling or knowledge of temperature assessment methodologies is an added advantage.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">A minimum of 8 (or 5*) years of relevant work experience with energy- and land-use mitigation scenarios.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">Experience in project management and coordination and managing teams.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">Proven and strong programming skills in Python.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">Experience in working in collaborative coding environments with multiple team members using version control (git) and unit testing.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">An interest in understanding and addressing climate change mitigation at national to international levels, and in working for impact.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">Excellent English writing and verbal skills.</div></li><li><div style="text-align:justify;">A well-developed sense for teamwork and ability to interact with a diverse array of people.</div></li></ul>                            Our offer<br>                                <ul><li><div style="text-align:justify;">A job with purpose.
