We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.
Mechanical design engineer Electrical Connectors
At Xylem, we design and manufacture submersible pumps and mixers. For electrical systems operating under water, success hinges on reliable sealing systems and the use of electrical components suited for these challenging environments. Our products operate in tough environments such as wastewater systems and mining applications, requiring rugged and reliable design solutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and approving connection boards and other electrical connectors, many of which have critical waterproofing functions. You will also provide development and testing support to our motor cable component owner. It is key that you can collaborate across disciplines, including electrical engineering, materials specialists, and manufacturing teams, to ensure robust and cost-effective solutions.
You will join a team of six Development Engineers based in our Sundbyberg office. Our on-site R&D laboratory is well-equipped for testing of components and final products, while also offering the capability of prototype manufacturing.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Take overall responsibility for electrical connection systems in pumps and mixers.
- Perform mechanical design, calculations, and lab testing.
- Contribute to the development of adjacent components, such as motor cables and accessories.
- Play a key role throughout the entire product lifecycle – from initial concept to finished component or system.
- Provide technical support and problem-solving in collaboration with our product quality, testing, commercial teams, and customers.
- Conduct internal technical trainings.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with an academic background in mechanical engineering – either a recent graduate or with a few years of relevant experience.
Experience with CAD systems and knowledge of electrical connections is a plus.
Strong English skills are required, as you'll be working with colleagues both locally and across the globe.
Personal characteristics
We believe you are passionate about mechanical design and thrive on solving complex challenges.
To succeed in the role, it is important that you have a high analytical ability and a strong drive to solve intricate problems.
We are looking for an individual who is structured, methodical, and persistent when evaluating concepts and conducting tests
