Summary

We are seeking a Senior Sales Application Engineer, Battery, to bridge the gap between cutting-edge battery technologies and real-world customer applications. This customer-facing, high-impact role involves close collaboration with R&D, product development, and sales teams to deliver optimized energy solutions across aerospace, electric mobility, defense, and industrial sectors. Ultimately, you will work directly with our customers and provide support for our sales and product development teams as need.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for customer integration of advanced battery cells and packs, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical system interfaces.
  • Support OEMs and Tier 1 clients with battery performance validation, system-level troubleshooting, and application optimization.
  • Lead DFMEA and safety assessments, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards (UL, UN 38.3, SAE, etc.).
  • Consult with customer engineering teams to ensure optimal and proper use of battery system design.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to support design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and field issue resolution.
  • Translate customer requirements into internal engineering specifications and guide product development accordingly.
  • Conduct cell and pack-level simulations, lifetime modeling, thermal performance, and system performance projections under various duty cycles.
  • Deliver technical documentation, including application notes, integration guides, and customer training materials.
  • Participate in industry trade shows, technical conferences, and direct customer engagements as a subject matter expert.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in battery applications, systems engineering, or electrochemical device integration.
  • Expertise in Li-ion battery technology, BMS, and battery pack architectures. Experience with Silicon-anode or next-gen battery cells experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, COMSOL, or equivalent simulation platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of battery safety protocols, compliance testing, and thermal/electrical management strategies.
  • Exceptional communication skills to translate complex technical concepts into customer-facing deliverables.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, cross-functional startup environments and support rapid product iteration cycles.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with aviation, UAV, EV, or space-based battery applications.
  • Hands-on lab experience with battery cycling, testing platforms, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with DOE, Six Sigma, or statistical design/validation methodologies.

 

Physical Demands & Work Location:

  • Fremont, CA: This is an on-site job. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work is required.
  • Work performed in an office environment and requires ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • May need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, respirator and safety shoes.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Frequent domestic and infrequent international travel.

  • Comprehensive compensation package includes base salary + generous RSUs. Salary range for this role is $125,000 - $175,000 annually DOE.
