Senior Accountant

Princeton NuEnergy (PNE) is a lithium-ion battery direct recycling and critical materials recovery innovator, founded out of Princeton University. At its core, PNE's patented recycling technology is based on a low-temperature plasma-assisted separation process (LPAS™) that does not damage but, rather, reclaims and repairs cathode material from spent lithium-ion batteries and manufacturing scrap at half the cost with significantly lower waste when compared with existing traditional recycling processes.

Join us and become a part of our success story! We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. As a key member of the Finance Department, you will be responsible for timely budget forecasting, accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on role that encompasses accounting operations, budgeting, financial analysis, tax filings, and audit coordination—playing a critical role in driving financial efficiency and supporting strategic decision-making.

Below includes some of the key responsibilities and qualifications:

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Provide actionable financial insights to support operational efficiency and profitability.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting
• Collaborate with department heads to align financial plans with business objectives
• Expense management and approvals via Expensify
• Track budget performance and report on variances
• Support monitoring manufacturing entity's costs, variances, and inventory accounting
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, tax regulations, and audit requirements
• Support external audits and grant reporting process
• Assist in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns (income, sales, property, etc.)
• Coordinate with external tax advisors and ensure timely filings
• Stay updated on tax law changes affecting manufacturing operations
• Identify and implement process efficiencies in accounting and financial reporting
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate or cost accounting roles. Candidates with a CPA are highly preferred
• Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial regulations
  
• Experience with grant reporting and tracking is strongly preferred
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft 365
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork
