We are now looking for a Manager to lead Trieste Investigation Laboratory team, joining our five investigators to analyze components received from the field. The location for the position is in Trieste, Italy.
What will you be doing
In this position, your work will include ensuring high quality technical services, the achievement of highest level of Customer satisfaction, and the motivation a highly performing team, while holding the team accountable for results. The laboratory manager establishes a stable and reliable investigation process, implements control on the investigation time distribution, while keeping a strong focus on the excellent level of technical results.
For us to be the best match, we expect you to support the Customer through the product lifecycle thanks to your troubleshooting experience. As an ideal candidate, you have up-to-date knowledge of material analyses methodologies and optimal understanding of mechanics and alteration phenomena. For you to succeed in the position, we hope you secure that the products in the field be strictly monitored by laboratory investigations in case of unexpected damage, to prevent major issues and to avoid recurrence at the first onset of appearance.
As a Manager of the Investigation Laboratory in Trieste, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Coordinate resources and task assignment, defining priorities within the list of investigation requests.
- Guarantee safety requirements of Laboratory operations, complying with related legislation.
- Directly follow up major failures in the fields, serving the Customer as project leader.
- Report to management deliveries, KPI status, major technical issues and solved investigation cases.
- Monitor new products reliability when assessing field tested parts.
- Collaborate with FS&WS to reduce reworks, with R&D to provide first-hand feedback, with Supply Management to safeguard wartsila quality specifications.
- Keep laboratory equipment at the best standard and work area clean and organized.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Commitment to Customer safe operations.
- Orientation to knowledge growth, ensuring the lab be a reference point in the field.
- Entrepreneurial approach, to develop analysis services for a more sustainable future.
- Behavioral skills to lead multiple party investigations, facilitating that a potential Customer conflict turns into a resolution opportunity.
- Earlier 5 years of experience in Wärtsilä or analytical technical department.
- MSc Engineering degree and metallurgy knowledge.
In this role, some travel is required to meet with Customers and external party laboratories around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
