Our Team: Delivery Software, Product Engineering, Solutions

Our dynamic and collaborative Solutions Product Engineering team brings together expertise from engineering, software development, UX/UI design, AI/ML,  data science, remote sensing, and radar technology. Within Product Engineering, the Delivery Software Team comprises experienced full-stack developers embedded within multidisciplinary product or platform teams.

What we're looking for:

We are seeking an experienced Team Lead to lead our Delivery Software team. In this role, you will guide and mentor the team while making significant individual contributions to our internal and customer-facing analysis and map applications for visualizing and analyzing natural catastrophes.  This role involves hands-on feature development (frontend, backend, database, and a fair amount of cloud engineering) combined with technical & people leadership for the full-stack developers on the team. Ideal candidates are committed to clean, high-quality code and rigorous testing, eager to lead initiatives improving team and company best practices & processes, possess strong architectural skills, and have a passion for developing technical talent.

As the Team Lead for Delivery Software, you will report to the Senior  Director of Product Engineering while also contributing as an individual developer within a specific product or platform team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and mentoring the Delivery Software team, providing technical guidance and support
  • Collaborating within a product or platform team to design, architect, and develop robust full-stack map applications for internal and external users.
  • Driving technical decisions, promoting best practices (coding standards, testing, security), and facilitating code reviews within the team.
  • Contributing significantly to hands-on development (coding, debugging, testing) alongside your team members.
  • Facilitating technical discussions and ensuring team alignment.
  • Fostering a positive, collaborative, and productive team environment.
  • Contributing to the technical growth and skill development of team members.
  • Demonstrating the ability to work effectively both independently and as a leader within a team.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in full-stack development with Python, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and Docker.
  • Solid experience with Kubernetes and cloud services (AWS).
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring developers, leading technical initiatives, or acting in a previous team lead capacity.
  • Strong ability to design, architect, and implement scalable and maintainable software solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team leadership and collaboration.
  • A commitment to code quality, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Previous experience with leading and working with disciplined  agile and outcome-driven iterative development practices.

Nice to have:

  • Previous knowledge of the geospatial domain is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, OGC standards, and Mapbox GL JS is also valued.
