The position will also be responsible for management of DPAC ES labs located at 4th &amp; Main in Cincinnati, OH and Plainfield, IN. This enterprise position will also provide local standards support for Duke Energy Midwest asset management functions.  Responsibilities:<ul><li>Development of protection &amp; control standard settings, logic, and control templates</li><li>Development of related standards application guidance and position documents for standards application</li><li>SME input into training and work method related documentation and training artifacts</li><li>Hands on testing within relay lab, field lab, factory and field acceptance testing of new and existing concepts, working with switchgear, relays, and control components</li><li>Integration of various sensing, control, automation, communications, and protection capabilities into technical standard solution systems</li><li>Close working cooperation with peer team leads for Distribution Enterprise System Protection Team and team members within DPAC ES, peers in the Equipment and Construction Standards team, PGO Asset Management Governance, and stakeholders within PGO Asset Management</li><li>Mentorship and peer leadership with fellow engineers</li></ul>Required Basic Qualifications: <ul><li>Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer.</li><li>A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.</li><li>Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.</li></ul>Desired Qualifications:<ul><li>Incumbent should have the knowledge and ability to design, create standards, and evaluate system protection and control for medium voltage systems (4kV-36kV class).</li><li>Experience performing system protection and coordination studies.</li><li>Familiarity/experience with advanced protocols, IEC 61850 GOOSE, DNP3.0, including programming and testing advanced protection and automation systems with peer-to-peer communications.</li><li>Familiarity with communication control concepts, such as SCADA.</li><li>Programming and testing advanced protection and automation systems with peer-to-peer communications.</li><li>Experience integrating and testing protection and control systems.</li><li>Familiarity/experience with SEL protection automation controls/relays (SEL-651R, SEL-487, SEL-451, SEL 751) and associated configuration software.</li><li>Familiarity/experience with OMICRON test equipment and associated Test Universe software.</li><li>Familiarity with SEL Quickset software suites.</li><li>Experience developing/programming relay and control design templates, including development of system protection relay settings and logic.</li><li>Experience creating standards, standard settings templates, and application guides. </li><li>Experience performing factory acceptance and field acceptance testing of systems.</li><li>Familiarity with related industry standards, such as ANSI (Associated Electric Systems Interface), IEEEE 519 Harmonics: IEC 61850 Communication networks and systems for power utility automation.</li><li>Transmission Protection and Control Experience.</li><li>Distribution Protection Automation Control Experience.</li><li>Distribution field engineering experience.</li><li>Experience with Integration of power plant, distributed resources, or major industrial/commercial/government customer load facilities.</li></ul>Additional Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Proficient in engineering theories and principles.</li><li>Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.</li><li>Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Proficient in principles of project management.</li><li>Registered Professional Engineer (PE).</li><li>Experience in the utility industry.</li></ul> Working Conditions:<ul><li>Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period.
