This individual will be responsible for building, modifying, and repairing precision molds, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and specialized machines to support production and engineering operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, innovative, and possesses a deep understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes.How You Will Do ItThe primary duties of a Toolmaker include:<ul><li>Manufacture, modify, and repair molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other precision tooling components.</li><li>Set up and operate a wide range of tool room equipment including mills, lathes, and grinders.</li><li>Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure high-precision results.</li><li>Plan and lay out work with efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to extremely tight tolerances.</li><li>Diagnose and resolve mold deficiencies using advanced troubleshooting techniques and specialized knowledge.</li><li>Select appropriate materials and apply heat-treating processes based on metallurgical properties and application needs.</li><li>Maintain accurate documentation and manage inventory of spare parts for molds and tooling.</li><li>Provide training or guidance to junior technicians or team members when necessary.</li><li>Support production operations by assisting in areas outside the tool room when needed.</li></ul>Tools &amp; Equipment Used:<ul><li>Machine shop tools</li><li>Heliarc and Electric Arc welding equipment</li><li>Micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges</li><li>Electrical testing equipment</li><li>Standard hand tools</li></ul>What We Look For<ul><li>You must have a high school diploma or a GED</li><li>Proven experience in precision tool making within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive or high-volume production.</li><li>Proficiency with measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.</li><li>In-depth understanding of metals, heat treatment processes, and machining techniques.</li><li>Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints with a high level of accuracy.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.</li><li>Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.</li></ul>What We Do HereOur components plant located in Florence, Kentucky manufactures and produces battery containers, covers and PowerFrame® grids. We opened in 1978 and now employ 150 people and operate six days per week.
