And that’s where you come in.Job Description:Your new role Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Communications &amp; Infotainment Engineer, where you will be dedicated to one specific area of the work packages which all rolling stock projects are broken down into. Within the UK engineering function, work packages are grouped together based on synergies. This creates several small teams focused around a train design area, in this instance PIS, CCTV, Passenger Counting, Seat reservation, Wi-Fi and Seat Occupancy.Due to the nature of this role the successful individual must be flexible to travel both within the UK and internationally when required. This may be up to once per month. Evening work may also be required for testing purposes.Some key role responsibilities would include: Depending on the project, its scope, and stage within the V-lifecycle, as the Communications &amp; Infotainment Engineer, you may be expected to carry out or contribute to the following activities as required, with respect to your work package area:<ul><li>Design/evaluate system architectures.</li><li>Support the creation and development of System Requirement Documents (SRD’s) for third party suppliers.</li><li>Be fully engaged on supplier selection, monitor and review all technical documentation received against requirements.</li><li>Create / Update functional specifications and test specifications</li><li>Support for upgrades of the on-train sub-systems throughout the product life cycle, starting from concept and proceeding to entry into service and support</li><li>Support management of compliance evidence to produce compliance reports</li><li>Traceability of sub-system requirements and validation evidence to the Train Specifications in IBM DOORS database.</li><li>Support on-train testing, this may include night shifts.</li><li>Support and progress FCRs</li><li>Conduct Functional tests on trains for Verification and Validation of Functional Requirements</li><li>Review/Analyse test issues / defects, including analysis of IP traffic using Wireshark</li><li>Prepare test reports and raise defects in the defects database</li><li>Coordination and technical PM of the deliverables to be completed</li><li>Formalisation and management of requirements through IBM Rational DOORS</li><li>Technical coordination between projects, software developers and clients</li><li>Provide support to all other functions in the areas of your technical competence</li></ul>About you<ul><li>Good knowledge of electronic systems, especially PIS, CCTV, Passenger Counting &amp; Wi-Fi.</li><li>Previous experience within a systems engineering role is necessary.</li><li>Experience of designing/testing train or other electronic/software based embedded systems.</li><li>Experience of requirements based systems development.</li><li>Knowledge of concepts of real time systems.</li><li>Knowledge of the UK/EU railway operations, Engineering and standards is desirable.</li><li>Good English language skills.
