We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully.We are looking for a Senior Sustaining Electrical Engineer to lead the support and enhancement of the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of electrical systems within our robotic platforms. This senior-level role is heavily focused on Failure Analysis (FA) and driving resolution of high-impact electrical issues across the full product lifecycle—from production to deployment in the field. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, thrives in a cross-functional environment, and is passionate about improving system reliability through hands-on analysis, design change leadership, and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and operations.Responsibilities<ul style=""><li>Lead structured Failure Analysis (FA) efforts on robotic systems and subassemblies using advanced root cause methodologies.</li><li>Serve as the technical lead for resolving complex electrical issues in production and field environments.</li><li>Author and present FA reports with a high degree of technical rigor, aligning stakeholders on findings and next steps.</li><li>Drive and own Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for electrical design improvements targeting reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability.</li><li>Maintain and improve electrical documentation, including schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and test plans.</li><li>Collaborate with Firmware, Mechanical, Systems, and Test Engineering to troubleshoot and resolve systemic, cross-disciplinary issues.</li><li>Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to improve yield, address component obsolescence, and mitigate supplier issues.</li><li>Lead qualification efforts for alternate components and suppliers, including sensors, motors, power systems, and PCBs.</li><li>Support and sometimes direct electrical bring-up and debug across robot subassemblies.</li><li>Identify and lead initiatives for cost reduction, field issue trend tracking, and reliability-focused continuous improvement.</li><li>Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight during FA, debug, and design validation activities.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul style=""><li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.</li><li>5+ years of experience in electrical design or sustaining engineering in robotics or complex electromechanical systems.</li><li>Proven experience with structured FA techniques (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis).</li><li>Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including sensors, motor drivers, and power electronics.</li><li>Skilled in use of lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power meters, multimeters, etc.).</li><li>Proficient in ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD) and PLM systems (e.g., Arena, Agile).</li><li>Experience with EMI/ESD troubleshooting and system-level validation.</li><li>Hands-on experience with robotic or automation systems preferred.</li><li>Effective communicator with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.</li><li>Familiarity with manufacturing processes for PCBAs, cable assemblies, and embedded systems.</li><li>Exposure to regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., CE, UL, FCC) is a plus.</li></ul>What Makes You Standout<ul style=""><li>You apply a rigorous, evidence-based approach to FA and reliability engineering.</li><li>You’re comfortable working through ambiguity and enjoy system-level problem solving.</li><li>You’ve worked on complex, safety-critical systems involving motion, compute, and sensing.</li><li>You combine urgency in debugging with diligence in documentation and communication.</li><li>You take ownership, follow through, and drive resolution.</li></ul>
