LATINOS AND SOCIETY PROGRAMThe Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program, founded in 2012, convenes across sectors, ethnicities, and ideologies to co-create solutions to the barriers preventing greater American Latino mobility and catalyze actions that lead to a more prosperous and inclusive America for all. This work includes partnering on community-based research (Aspen City Action Lab), holding an annual conference on the advancing economic mobility for the Latino community, reporting new research on wealth creation through small businesses, promoting workforce development and digital upskilling, and exploring greater financial inclusion from CDFIs, large financial institutions, and an exploration of remittances and digital currency for Latino communities at home and abroad. The program also manages a small scholarship fund to help increase Latino participation to events across the Aspen Institute. ABOUT THIS ROLEThe Executive Director of Latinos and Society (LAS) will oversee a new chapter for the Program that will include a rebrand and explore research and convening around international trade and the nuances of the U.S. border economy as well as financial inclusion, including digital remittances. The Executive Director is responsible for fundraising, developing and supporting a team that currently includes 5 employees, managing a budget of over $2 million dollars, and effectively engaging across the Aspen Institute and with external stakeholders. The position reports to the Executive Vice President of Policy Programs at the Aspen Institute and consults with the Latinos and Society Advisory Committee. The salary range for this position is $250,000 - $270,000. This position is based in Washington, DC, with employees in Washington, DC and New York City. Aspen currently promotes a hybrid work schedule of in-office work two days a week, which is subject to change. Remote candidates will be considered if they can commit to being in an Aspen Institute office on a regular basis. WHAT YOU WILL DOProgram Strategy<ul> <li>Develop and execute programmatic strategies, events, and research that align with LAS mission and organizational goals.</li> <li>Assess, refine, and enhance programs to address evolving community needs and maximize impact.</li> <li>Ensure grant deliverables meet high-quality standards and are reported in a timely manner.</li></ul> Fundraising and Financial Planning <ul> <li>Develop sustained and robust funding through a mixture of grants and sponsorship funding.</li> <li>Build and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, corporate partners, and other key stakeholders.</li> <li>Maintain financial accountability by monitoring budgets and resource allocation to maximize impact.</li></ul> Team Leadership and Development<ul> <li>Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance, and growth-oriented culture.</li> <li>Develop and oversee professional development plans, performance reviews, and team-building activities.</li> <li>Plan and facilitate methods to promote ongoing learning and alignment. </li></ul>External Relations and Communications<ul> <li>Develop relationships with policy experts, community leaders, and philanthropic representatives dedicated to the economic mobility and success of Latino entrepreneurs and workforce champions. </li> <li>Organize and attend events dedicated to the mission of LAS.</li> <li>Communicate with stakeholders through newsletters, website, and other means to highlight sector developments and new initiatives.</li> <li>Identify and develop strategic partnerships, external relationships, and new opportunities.</li></ul> WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO THRIVE<ul> <li>A minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience.</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues of economic importance to American Latino communities and how American Latino communities influence the nation and Latino communities abroad. </li> <li>A demonstrated ability to develop, lead, and implement a strategic fundraising plan that maintains and builds upon an annual operating budget; this includes a history of cultivating and managing investors, donors, and foundations.</li> <li>Deep relationships with Latino organizations and leaders nationally. </li> <li>Strong public speaking and writing skills that will raise the profile of LAS to the public and with funders, elected officials, thought leaders, and other key stakeholders.</li> <li>Management experience that includes budget oversight, attracting and retaining staff, consulting and communicating with Advisory Boards, and collaborating with peers.</li> <li>An ability to create roundtable discussions, convenings, and other public activities related to AILAS economic advancement program work.</li> <li>An ability to travel 30% or more as needed.</li> <li>Fluency in Spanish.</li></ul> To Apply: Please send a cover letter attesting to their interest, skills, and experience for the position (required) and a current CV/resume via the link provided.
