This role will be instrumental in building and leading an instructor cadre composed of ground, simulator and flight instructors, each with the capability to teach multiple aspects of Joby’s standardized S4 pilot training program. The successful applicant will be willing to work in a fast-moving, innovative space, and will respond well to being involved with a radically new aviation environment. This job is on-site in Marina, California.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Contribute to the ongoing development of the S4 pilot training courseware.</li> <li>Contribute to the development of a standardized training course for S4 instructor pilots.</li> <li>Lead and manage a growing team of instructor pilots.</li> <li>Deliver standardized modules, including before flight planning and briefing, and after flight debriefs.</li> <li>Analyze the performance of trainees and write reports on the findings.</li> <li>Make recommendations regarding whether under-performing trainees should continue training.</li> <li>Contribute to internal flight safety and standardization discussions.</li> <li>Complete all required documentation in accordance with established Company and FAA procedures.</li> <li>Observe all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.</li> <li>Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>2+ years of experience managing people.</li> <li>FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate.</li> <li>Instrument Airplane rating.</li> <li>A minimum of 1000 hours pilot in command (PIC) flight time.</li> <li>200 hours as a flight instructor, check airman or simulator instructor.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Willingness to work extended hours.</li> <li>Prior to starting employment, must be in possession of a current, valid U.S or foreign passport and able to travel freely between the United States and any foreign countries in which we may be operating.</li> <li>Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for business purposes.</li> <li>Proficiency in reading and speaking English.</li> <li>High school diploma or GED.</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>FAA certified flight instructor.</li> <li>Prior experience instructing in a Part 121, 135 or military flight training program.</li> <li>Prior experience instructing in a Part 141 training school.</li> <li>Prior experience developing aviation courseware.</li> <li>Airplane, Powered-Lift, and Rotorcraft pilot certificate.</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree.</li></ul><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
