Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future.  </div><div><br></div><div><b style="font-size:18px;">Position Overview:</b><span style="font-size:18px;"> </span></div><div>We are looking for talented technical interns to join our stellar team for the summer or during the school year!</div><br><br><h3>Program Details:</h3><ul><li>Summer 12-16 week internship program for 40 hours per week or Flexible school year internship for 20+ hours per week</li><li>For school year internships, expected time dedication is flexible and tailored to your academic schedule</li></ul><h3>Computational Physicist Intern:</h3><ul><li>Divertor modeling- Involves modeling of heat flux on plasma facing materials using state of the art computer codes.</li><li>Equilibrium optimization- Optimizing stellarator equilibria using state of the art optimization codes.</li><li>Fast particle confinement- Studying the confinement of fusion born fast particles in Eos and Helios stellarators.</li><li>Plasma Simulation- Simulating plasma confinement and transport using gyro-kinetic codes.</li></ul><h3>Ideal Skills:</h3><ul><li>Enrolled in a STEM undergraduate or graduate program (physics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, etc.)</li><li>Interest in clean and sustainable energy to combat climate change</li><li>Hands-on or computational experience through academic research, club projects, hackathons, or industry internships</li><li>Highly self-motivated, independent, and driven to solve problems</li><li>Authorized to work in the US</li><li>Willingness to learn new things!</li><li>Compensation: $18-25/hr Undergraduate and $26-30/hr Post-grad</li></ul><br><div>It’s not necessary to meet all of the skillsets outlined above. <p>Thea Energy (formerly Princeton Stellarators) was founded in 2022 with a focus on leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster, simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. Thea Energy is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils and replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other proposed stellarator architectures. Stellarators are inherently steady-state, stable magnetic configurations that eliminate potential disruptions, making it an optimal pilot plant architecture. Thea Energy is building off foundational research and technology development that it spun out of Princeton University and Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, where the stellarator was first imagined in 1951. Thea Energy's proprietary breakthroughs have now enabled systems to be simpler and more practical than previously possible resulting in a system design that can scale to long-term commercial system operation and maintenance.​</p>
