This position is required to work on-site 5 days a week.</p></div><h2><strong>What we do: </strong></h2><p>The Senior Aerodynamics &amp; Performance Engineer will support air vehicle design, ground tests, and flight tests with aerodynamics performance design and analysis. This role will handle planning and execution of aerodynamics design, analysis, and testing of air vehicles throughout the development process. The engineer will interface regularly with the Airframe, VMS, Powertrain, Intelligent Systems, and other groups within Flight Technology.</p><h2><strong>What you can do:</strong></h2><ul><li>Design, analysis, and testing of aerodynamics for vehicles at different stages of development</li><li>Conduct rotor and mission performance calculations and the underlying engineering analyses that provide vital inputs to these calculations</li><li>Evaluate component test and vehicle test data, using empirical data to apply improvements to analytical predictions and modeling</li><li>Refine vehicle outer mold lines (OML) to meet aerodynamic key performance parameters</li><li>Develop aerodynamic databases from multiple analytical and empirical data sources</li><li>Collaborate with the broader engineering team to conduct multi-disciplinary trade studies to guide design decisions</li><li>Support test procedure development and test execution, and maintain responsibility for crew and test article safety by monitoring and assessing aerodynamics and performance characteristics</li><li>Guide model updates based on flight test data</li><li>Support requirement verification activities in various engineering subject areas</li><li>Develop engineering tools to complete engineering tasks associated with the Supernal concepts</li><li>Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul><h2><strong>What you can contribute:</strong></h2><ul><li>B.S. in a relevant engineering field required; Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred</li><li>Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)</li><li>Experience performing aerodynamics and performance analysis to evaluate new concepts and refine existing concepts</li><li>Experience performing analysis on eVTOL aircraft preferred</li><li>Experience with innovative, physics-based aerodynamics analysis and design methods</li><li>Experience with rotorcraft or fixed-wing performance analysis techniques that builds on applicable educational experience.
