We are hiring a Factory Manager to join our fast moving and growing lighting manufacturing production facility based in Richmond Park, Cape Town.The FM oversees the overall manufacturing facility and production lines, interfacing closely with procurement and stock management functions. This role works together with the Chief Product Officer and other senior managers and supervisors to ensure that products are manufactured to the highest possible quality standards, in compliance with relevant safety and industry-related regulations and standards.The FM will oversee all the current staff in the Richmond Park Facility as well as the anticipated headcount growth in line with the expected expansion. Products produced include LED luminaires, geyser controllers, microgrid controllers, inverters and lithium-iron batteries. Role Reports into: CPODirect Reports: around 3 - 5Indirect Reports: around 45Role responsibilities:<ul> <li>Oversee and manage all activities within the production facility</li> <li>Work closely with material planners to ensure that raw materials are correctly procured on a just-in-time basis</li> <li>Assessing standard and non-standard manufacturing requirements and the resources it may require</li> <li>Oversight of production supervisors and production planning.</li> <li>Oversee production schedules, timeously adjusting when necessary</li> <li>Facilitating regular factory meetings to discuss and manage any issues related to staff, production orders and material or equipment requirements</li> <li>Set-up, maintain and provide a monthly factory reports.</li> <li>Identification and elimination of production waste.</li> <li>Identification, implementation and maintenance of continuous improvement programs in line with industry best practices and LEAN methodologies.</li> <li>Drafting and deployment of work-instructions and procedures to support and improve factory operations</li> <li>Ensuring that factory staff adhere to stipulated company policies, procedures and work instructions at all times</li> <li>Ensuring that stipulated health and safety regulations are always met</li> <li>Ensuring that all pre-determined quality requirements are always met</li> <li>Oversight of repair and maintenance programs of production equipment</li> <li>Overseeing and managing periodic stock take activities in the factory</li> <li>Organising and or executing relevant training sessions for factory staff pertaining to company policies and procedures pertaining to HSE, product assembly and quality awareness</li> <li>Implementation and management of quality management systems</li> <li>Work closely with relevant stakeholders to develop new products and production processes for them</li> <li>Assist in creating and accurately implementing annual budgets</li> <li>Ensuring that regular feedback is provided to senior management regarding the status of production and the factory</li> <li>Any reasonable instruction given by senior management</li></ul>Qualifications, Experience and Skills<ul> <li>Matric/NQF 4 level qualification - essential</li> <li>Relevant business management tertiary qualification</li> <li>Electro-mechanical / Electronic Trade qualification </li> <li>5-7 yrs experience in a high volume production environment, preferably in ;lighting, electronics or electrical accessories market space - essential</li> <li>3-5 yrs experience in people management in a production environment with direct people management responsibilities</li> <li>Good working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems</li> <li>Good working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS</li> <li>Own vehicle and driver's licence </li></ul>Personal Competencies<ul> <li>Punctual with a good attendance record</li> <li>Excellent project management skills</li> <li>Organized and efficient – Good administration skills</li> <li>Excellent communication, numeracy and computer literacy skills.</li> <li>Excellent people management and communication skills</li> <li>Eye for detail, ability to identify problems and implement preventative strategies to minimize and or eliminate non-conformities.</li> <li>Being able to develop good working relationships and trust with various teams.</li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills, analytic ability and detail oriented.</li> <li>Work well with many different departments and external suppliers.</li> <li>Always keeping the end-user, internal and external customers in mind.</li> <li>Results and deadline-driven.</li></ul><ul> </ul>
