They integrate risk management into strategic and change management initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives.Additionally, they provide expert advice and support in managing risk exposure in a commercially sound manner, deliver meaningful analysis and reporting to both the business and senior management, ensure compliance with the risk framework and business continuity requirements, and conduct training to enhance risk awareness and competency across the organisation.Role ResponsibilitiesRisk Identification and Assessment<ul><li>Build strong and productive relationships with the Front Office to support the identification and assessment of material risks arising from business-as-usual activities, emerging risks, strategic initiatives, and change programmes—ensuring these are understood as part of commercial and decision-making processes</li><li>Support the business in conducting risk assessment activities (e.g., Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Top-Down Risk Assessment, Scenario Analysis, Root Cause Analysis), applying expertise to challenge assumptions and ensure assessments are thorough and complete</li><li>Provide accurate and timely risk analysis and insights to stakeholders to drive conscious, informed risk taking and decisions</li></ul>Risk Appetite<ul><li>Work proactively with the business to define the Group’s risk appetite, including thresholds and key risk indicator (KRI) metrics, ensuring alignment with business activities and risk profile</li><li>Review the business’s risk profile against the defined risk appetite and collaborate to identify appropriate actions for risks that fall outside acceptable parameters</li></ul>Strategic Risk &amp; Change Management<ul><li>Partner with the Global Broking business to identify, assess, and manage risks that may hinder the achievement of long-term strategic objectives</li><li>Support the assessment of risks related to strategic initiatives (e.g., M&amp;A, new product development, new business ventures), including financial, operational, regulatory, and cultural impacts—ensuring informed decision-making and smooth execution</li><li>Review new business requests as part of the Change Management Process to ensure a complete and accurate understanding of the initiative and its risk profile and confirm that appropriate mitigation actions are taken by the business and support functions</li></ul>Risk Mitigation and Management<ul><li>Ensure the Global Broking business actively and appropriately manages its end-to-end risk profile in a commercially sound manner</li><li>Partner with the Global Broking business to evaluate the adequacy of control and policy frameworks in mitigating inherent risks, and challenge assumptions to ensure controls are effective</li><li>Support and challenge the Global Broking business in identifying and addressing deficiencies in its control and policy frameworks</li><li>Provide constructive challenge to:<ul><li>Ensure plans to address control deficiencies are robust and timely</li><li>Confirm that risk-based analysis has been conducted to assess the impact of risk acceptance on the business's risk profile</li></ul></li><li>As needed, collaborate on or conduct assurance activities, including control testing and targeted risk reviews on key topics across the Group</li></ul>Risk Monitoring and Reporting<ul><li>Support the business in monitoring its end-to-end risk profile, ensuring the production of appropriate MI, analysis, and commentary, including:<ul><li>Performance of risk appetite metrics and KRIs against established thresholds</li><li>Significant internal and external risk events that could impact the business, and the Group’s response to reduce recurrence</li><li>Status of significant issues and remediation efforts</li><li>Identified risks and proposed mitigation actions</li><li>Risk-related data (e.g., events, issues, metrics) to identify meaningful trends</li><li>Assurance activities conducted by the Risk team</li></ul></li><li>Participate in regular engagement and management meetings to provide an independent second-line view of the business’s risk profile</li><li>Provide monthly updates on risk-related MI, emerging threats, and analysis for Risk Leadership Team meetings</li><li>Draft commentary for risk committees as required</li></ul>Events, Issues, Risk Acceptances and Policy Breaches<ul><li>Support the Global Broking business in:<ul><li>Taking immediate action to mitigate or contain significant events and escalating them appropriately</li><li>Managing day-to-day risk matters in accordance with the risk framework</li></ul></li><li>Provide quality assurance over events, issues, and policy breaches</li><li>Assist the Global Broking business in conducting deep dives into significant internal and external events, ensuring controls are adequate and effective. Where deficiencies are identified, ensure remediation plans are developed and executed</li></ul>Business Continuity Planning and Crisis Management<ul><li>Provide independent oversight of business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience during and after disruptions</li><li>Support the development and execution of remediation plans where gaps are identified during Business Continuity tests, ensuring plans are executed in a timely manner and updated accordingly</li><li>Partner with the Global Broking business to coordinate with crisis management teams, ensuring effective response and recovery actions in line with the Group’s crisis management framework</li></ul>Training and Awareness<ul><li>Promote a risk-aware culture across the business by coordinating and conducting training sessions to enhance risk awareness and competency</li><li>Raise awareness of risk management practices, leveraging the Risk function’s business engagement strategy</li></ul>Experience/Competences:<ul><li>Experience working in an Operational Risk programme within a medium to large financial institution, ideally in an IDB or Capital Markets environment. Additional risk-related experience is a plus.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field; equivalent experience or a relevant professional certification is also acceptable</li><li>Solid knowledge of the financial services industry and the regulatory framework in the UK. Knowledge of ISDA documentation is a plus.</li><li>Strong understanding of Wholesale Broking markets, trade arrangement and execution methods. Experience with Algorithmic order execution is a plus.</li><li>Strong understanding of fixed income, equities, foreign exchange, and emerging markets products in both the OTC and exchange traded derivative markets. Familiarity with Private Markets is a plus.</li><li>Good understanding of the post-trade workflow supporting the above products, such as clearing and settlement risks.</li><li>Good understanding of risk models and measures, as well as industry best practices in operational risk management. Any experience in small to medium M&amp;A activities is also a plus.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging and style to suit different audiences. Demonstrates adaptability through technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and awareness of seniority.
