<p><span>Argonne National Laboratory</span> is looking for a successful candidate that will provide vision and leadership for Argonne’s Materials Manufacturing Innovation Center (MMIC) and lead its Manufacturing Program. The director will work with leaders inside and outside the laboratory to cultivate and create new partnerships with industry, DOE, academia, and other stakeholders to build strategic collaborations and amplify the laboratory’s capabilities in domestic manufacturing of advanced materials and chemistries.</p><p></p><p>The director will dually report to the Associate Laboratory Director, Advanced Energy Technologies and the Associate Laboratory Director, Science &amp; Technology, Partnerships and Outreach. The director will be a resource across the entire lab, with a core team assembled from all the directorates.</p><p></p><p>The director will lead Argonne’s $53M manufacturing programs with its principal DOE sponsors in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), the Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC), the Office of Fossil Energy (FE), and others. The director will maintain and grow a lab-wide manufacturing strategy building from lab capabilities in combination with DOE needs and strategic industrial partners. The director will interface with other initiatives such as energy storage manufacturing via ACCESS, critical materials and minerals manufacturing with METALLIC, microelectronics manufacturing via Argonne Microelectronics Institute and other materials manufacturing related activities as they develop.</p><p></p><p>The director will liaise with relevant DOE partners, in particular with the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technology Office and Industrial Technology Office. The director will support engagements with FE and MESC as they pertain to the intersections with other activities.</p><p></p><p>The director will nurture and grow our collaborations in the Gulf Coast, bringing lab skills and technologies to the petrochemical industry and associated ecosystem in Texas and Louisiana and develop other partnerships to advance our strategy. Existing relationships with University of Houston (including Tech Bridge), and Louisiana State University built in collaboration with Institutional Partnerships and Government Relations.</p><p>The director will support lab objectives to grow the lab’s brand and presence regionally, in collaboration with the Office of Community Engagement.</p><p></p><p>The director’s success will be evaluated on the growth of the laboratory’s programs related to materials manufacturing, as measured both by external funding captured and scientific and technological impact delivered for key sponsors and partners.
