As a Controls Deployment Engineer, you will be responsible for field Hive support, including delivering and troubleshooting PassiveLogic’s Hive platform into partners’ buildings. You will integrate new tooling, troubleshoot live systems, and document repeatable processes, all as part of a high-velocity, hands-on engineering team. What you’ll doField Hive support and deployment: Commission, configure, and validate Hive systems in the field.IoT integration and tooling: Install and upgrade tooling and instrumentation to support advanced building operations.Network troubleshooting: Configure and debug IP networks for system communications.System diagnostics: Investigate and resolve HVAC and control system issues using trend data and logs.Documentation: Record and standardize deployment procedures for repeatability and quality control.Collaborate across teams: Work closely with engineering, product, and customer success to ensure smooth deployments and robust performance.What you’ll bringWe want to work with proactive, resourceful engineers who get excited about working in real environments, solving live problems, and pushing the boundaries of intelligent control. This is a hands-on role that puts you in the middle of the action, helping buildings across the globe run smarter and more sustainably. Your work will inform our technology, improve product development, and drive real-world innovation.You must have<ul><li>Proven experience: </li><ul><li>HVAC controls experience and familiarity with control sequences</li><li>Experience with IoT systems and real-world deployments</li><li>IP networking knowledge, including troubleshooting routers, switches, and end-devices</li><li>HVAC trend data analysis and troubleshooting</li></ul><li>Exceptional communication skills: Extraordinary teammate skills with a collaborative, interpersonal communication style. Strong customer-facing skills with an ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. </li><li>Organized and strategic: Creative thinker and strong problem solver with meticulous attention to detail.</li><li>Collaborative mindset: Experience working across teams to drive customer success. Strong self-motivation towards PassiveLogic’s mission to “empower people through generative autonomy to solve the world’s largest climate challenges.” </li><li>Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment, eager to learn, iterate, and innovate.</li><li>Problem solving: You own this role. When issues arise, be the empowered force that solves them, rolling-up.</li></ul>You should have<ul><li>Database querying experience (GraphQL, SQL, JQ, etc.)</li><li>Linux terminal familiarity (SSH, command line, system logs, systemd)</li><li>Experience with Raspberry Pis, Arduinos, or embedded platforms</li><li>HVAC systems background (mechanical or electrical)</li><li>Familiarity with Git for version control</li></ul>It’s helpful to have<ul><li>Experience having built your own PC or hacking hardware projects</li></ul>We know there are candidates who might not fit everything we’ve described above, or who might have experience and skills we haven’t considered.
