Join us in powering North America!Your Opportunity One Permanent Full Time Position.   Capital Power is seeking a seasoned Trader to provide strategic leadership in the Eastern power markets (PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE). This role is ideal for a forward-thinking professional with a strong track record in dynamic trading environments and a passion for optimizing natural gas power plant performance and enhancing trading strategies.The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing market strategies, managing risk exposure, and driving profitability across key markets.You will contribute to our team by <ul><li>Designing and executing hedging strategies for Capital Power’s portfolio of gas generation and related assets in the PJM, MISO and IESO markets</li><li>Creating speculative power and gas trading strategies for physical and financial markets</li><li>Managing relationships with counterparties, customers and brokers, including the negotiation of master agreements, EMAs and AMAs where applicable</li><li>Managing a trading team and create a high-performance culture</li><li>Analyzing Eastern power and gas markets to identify trends, opportunities, and risks</li><li>Applying risk management practices to mitigate losses and ensure compliance with policies and regulations</li><li>Monitoring hedging and trading performance, and provide reports to management</li><li>Collaborating with Operations, Risk Management, and Finance departments to support trading activities</li><li>Staying updated on industry developments to improve strategies and processes</li></ul>What you will bring to the role   Education:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related field with a solid academic record.</li></ul>Experience: <ul><li>10+ years of experience in physical and financial power trading with strong knowledge of delta hedging strategies, Eastern Interconnect power and gas term markets and risk management.</li></ul>Technical Skills:<ul><li>Experience trading heat rates, locational spreads, and time spreads.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting complex data and making decisions.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.</li></ul>Working Conditions:<ul><li>Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.</li></ul>Additional Details:This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.In order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in Canada.The successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.               Capital Power employees that refer a successful candidate for this position are eligible for a $1500 Referral Reward!We believe that creating a culture that supports employee physical, mental, financial, and social wellbeing is critical to our success.
