You will work to enhance battery performance, safety, efficiency, and sustainability. You will have a strong understanding of electrochemistry, materials science, and engineering principles, with a focus on both hands-on laboratory work and data analysis. You will lead and manage a team of R&amp;D Technicians and oversee daily lab operations. </p><p> </p><h3><strong>Responsibilities and Duties: </strong></h3><ul> <li>Oversee daily lab operations and lead continuous improvement efforts to optimize lab efficiency, accuracy, and throughput. </li> <li>Responsible for handling the team’s tasks and assignments and making sure technicians are appropriately performing assigned tasks. </li> <li>Designing and executing experiments to test battery materials and designs. </li> <li>Analyzing data to optimize processes and characterizing materials to understand limitations and develop solutions.</li> <li>Prepare technical reports, summaries, and presentations based on test data and findings. </li> <li>Maintain documentation for internal processes and regulatory compliance. </li> <li>Develop and maintain SOPs, test protocols, and documentation including specification requirements. </li> <li>Collaborate cross-departmentally with other battery scientists, production engineers, and quality assurance teams. </li> <li>Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and safe operation of lab equipment. Maintain training material and provide training when needed. </li> <li>Ensure safety and regulatory requirements (like GLP and GMP), including LOTO procedures.</li> <li>Responsible for lab material inventory and procurement requests. </li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>Strong knowledge of lithium-ion and other battery behavior, failure modes, and testing standards. </li> <li>Hands-on experience with material synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical testing </li> <li>Analytical skills. Experience with data analysis software. </li> <li>Ability to convey complex technical information effectively. </li> <li>Problem solving skills. </li> <li>Experience in failure analysis is desirable</li> <li>Strong time management skills </li> <li>Detail oriented and introspective. </li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. </li> <li>Presently legally authorized to work in the U.S. </li> </ul><p> </p><p><strong>Education, Certificates, Licenses, Trainings:</strong></p><ul> <li>MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. PhD. Preferred. </li> <li>2-4 years of experience with battery research and development, which may include work during masters or doctorate degree. </li> <li>Experience as a supervisor or relevant role.  Ability to motivate, mentor, and guide. </li> </ul><p> </p><p><strong>Physical Demands &amp; Work Location: </strong></p><ul> <li>Fremont, CA: This is an on-site job.
