Our team is building a dynamic network to meet the changing demands for electricity and increasingly, renewable electricity – safely, securely and sustainably in the communities we serve.At SP Energy Networks, we know people are central to building a better future, quicker and we are seeking new talent to join our team.What You'll Be DoingDevelop and deliver Protection and Control engineering solutions for transmission networks (132kV and above), providing necessary basic and detailed engineering specifications and designs, innovation, effective technical support, advice and input throughout the lifecycle of projects.<ul><li>Define protection and control and ancillary apparatus requirements for input to System Construction Authorisation (SCA), Project Technical Specifications and BETTA documentation and advise on construction and outage programmes where required in relation to Control &amp; Protection.</li><li>Prepare basic and detailed engineering specifications and designs for Networks and Plant Protection Systems, Network Automation and Substation Control Systems, Telecommunication Networks and Metering.</li><li>Provide technical assessment of tender submissions, preparation/review of Control &amp; Protection design drawings and specifications.</li><li>Ensure Networks and Plant Protection Systems, Network Automation and Substation Control Systems and Telecommunication Networks are in accordance with current legislation, policies and operational requirements.</li><li>Provide technical support to the Project team on matters concerning the design, construction and operation of control and protection systems and lead the technical resolution of site/ construction Control &amp; Protection issues.</li><li>Produce engineering documentation following quality processes to meet deliverables for PQPs and BETTA.</li><li>Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and environment compliance and continuous improvement and liaise across multi-disciplinary engineering teams to provide end to end integrated solutions.</li><li>Maintain an awareness of technological advances and industry best practices.</li></ul>What You’ll Bring<ul><li>Degree in an Engineering discipline or HND with relevant experience.</li><li>Good inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.</li><li>Ability to apply CDM and Health &amp; Safety best practice in a design environment.</li><li>Having the ability to investigate and understand technical characteristics of substation plant and associated equipment.</li><li>An understanding in terms of the plant and equipment deployed for transmission networks and how it is operated / maintained.</li><li>Experience in electrical infrastructure projects and knowledge in one or more of the following areas at voltages from 33kV to 400kV: Protection Substation and Network, Control, Automation, Telecommunications &amp; Metering</li></ul>Minimum Criteria<ul><li>Engineering Degree or HND with relevant experience</li><li>Experience in electrical infrastructure projects</li><li>UK driving licence</li></ul>  What’s in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
