You will deliver commercial support, expertise and knowledge from pre-contract development stage through to final account for a portfolio of transmission network engineering and construction projects.<ul><li>Assess monthly contractor measures by interfacing with various team members and agree a financial sum for works completed </li><li>Lead commercial meetings with contractors to agree costs and mitigate the impact of changes to the contract sum</li><li>Record all contractual and commercial information associated with the project(s) within project files and commercial databases or other systems applicable</li><li>Monitor and implement all contractual obligations with respect to notifications, payments and responses</li><li>Assess variations and claims including interfacing with various departments (legal, Engineering, Environmental, project Management) to understand cause &amp; SPT liability</li><li>Make commercial recommendations (including risks) to the business to assist with the decision-making process with respect to variations and claims</li><li>Assist with initial budget estimates and detailed cost plans for future tenders and agree timelines with key stakeholders</li><li>Develop ITT packs and subsequently evaluate contractor commercial bids then support tender interviews and selection</li><li>Assess how the QS functions operationally and proactively submit proposals for improvement</li><li>Assist with drafting and managing contracts (NEC, FIDIC, bespoke)</li></ul>What you’ll bring<ul><li>Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with legal, engineering, environmental, and project management teams</li><li>Ability to respond quickly and flexibly to emerging problems, prioritising effectively under pressure</li><li>Experience in managing competing deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy</li><li>Commercial awareness and understanding of contract management principles (NEC, FIDIC)</li><li>Confidence in making recommendations that balance risk and opportunity for the business</li><li>Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach to Quantity Surveying functions</li><li>Familiarity with commercial databases and project management systems</li><li>Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a detail-oriented approach</li><li>Excellent communication and negotiation skills</li></ul>As a minimum, you will demonstrate:<ul><li>Degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience</li><li>Experience of QS in a construction environment</li><li>Expertise working on FIDIC &amp; NEC.</li><li>Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications</li><li>Awareness of construction legislation</li><li>Full UK Driving Licence</li></ul>What’s in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
