Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled High Voltage and Substation Engineer to design, develop, and oversee high-voltage systems and substation projects, with a focus on supporting renewable energy integration. The ideal candidate will have expertise in high-voltage equipment, substation design, and grid interconnection, ensuring safe and efficient project execution.Key Responsibilities<ul> <li>Substation Design: Develop detailed designs for high-voltage substations, including layouts, equipment specifications, and single-line diagrams, using tools like AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.</li> <li>High-Voltage Systems: Design and analyze high-voltage transmission and distribution systems (69kV and above), ensuring compliance with industry standards and grid requirements.</li> <li>Grid Interconnection: Coordinate with utilities and grid operators to design and implement interconnection solutions for renewable energy projects, ensuring seamless integration.</li> <li>Equipment Specification: Select and specify high-voltage equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relays, ensuring compatibility and performance.</li> <li>Technical Analysis: Perform power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit analysis, and protection coordination, using software like ETAP, PSS/E, or SKM.</li> <li>Project Oversight: Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and testing of substations and high-voltage systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications.</li> <li>Permitting and Compliance: Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including NEC, IEEE, NESC, and utility-specific standards.</li> <li>Collaboration: Work with project managers, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to align high-voltage designs with project goals and timelines.</li> <li>Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Support ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of high-voltage systems, identifying and resolving operational issues.</li> <li>Documentation: Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation for stakeholders, including project updates and as-built records.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul> <li>Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering</li> <li>Experience:</li> <ul> <li>3-7 years of experience in high-voltage engineering, substation design, or power systems, preferably with renewable energy integration.</li> <li>Experience with grid interconnection for solar or energy storage projects.</li> </ul> <li>Technical Skills:</li> <ul> <li>Proficiency in design and analysis tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E, SKM).</li> <li>Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment, protective relaying, and power system protection.</li> <li>Familiarity with IEEE, NESC, and NEC standards.</li> </ul> <li>Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license </li> <li>Soft Skills:</li> <ul> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.</li> <li>Detail-oriented with a focus on safety and quality.</li> </ul> <li>Other Requirements:</li> <ul> <li>Ability to travel to project sites as needed.</li> <li>Valid driver’s license.</li> </ul></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul> <li>Experience with utility-scale renewable energy projects, particularly solar.</li> <li>Knowledge of SCADA systems and substation automation.</li> <li>Familiarity with energy storage systems and their integration into high-voltage infrastructure.</li></ul>
