As our first dedicated designer, you’ll define the design approach and ship intuitive interfaces for time-critical, expert workflows. You’ll partner daily with software engineers, research scientists, and go-to-market teams to turn complex functionality into simple, reliable tools that experts trust. <h1>Responsibilities and tasks</h1><ul style=""><li>Lead the full UX/UI design lifecycle for web and platform, from research to delivery</li><li>Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) and synthesize qualitative and quantitative feedback into actionable insights</li><li>Leverage analytics tools (e.g. user behavior tracking) to inform design decisions and measure impact</li><li>Create and validate design concepts through user flows, personas, experience maps, wireframes, and interactive prototypes</li><li>Develop and maintain a modular Figma design system, including documentation and usage guidelines, to ensure consistency</li><li>Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure accurate and high-quality design implementation and resolve design/development trade-offs</li><li>Craft clear, concise microcopy, including navigation labels, error states, and tooltips to support usability and tone consistency</li><li>Communicate design rationale and present work to various stakeholders</li><li>Stay current on UX/UI trends, tools, and best practices</li></ul><h1>Need-to-have</h1><ul style=""><li>7+ years designing B2B, data-rich technical products; first/solo design hire or founding designer experience preferred</li><li>Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design work, with emphasis on usability, visual design excellence, and measurable outcomes</li><li>Experience instrumenting PostHog (or equivalent), defining an event taxonomy, building funnels/cohorts, and using insights to inform design while respecting user privacy.</li><li>Advanced skills in Figma (prototyping, component libraries) and familiarity with other design/wireframing tools</li><li>Hands-on experience with AI-assisted design tools and the ability to prompt, evaluate, and refine outputs into production-ready designs</li><li>Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and design systems</li><li>Excellent collaboration skills and proven ability to work in agile, cross-functional teams</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with confidence in presenting to diverse stakeholders</li></ul><h1>Nice-to-have</h1><ul style=""><li>Basic front-end development knowledge (TypeScript, React &amp; Tailwind)</li><li>Experience designing for complex or data-rich applications</li></ul>Note: Only candidates who submit a portfolio (website or PDF) will be considered.At Jua, we foster a performance culture and value people who embody our beliefs of service and adventure.
