Job DescriptionBrookfield private wealth group is seeking an associate lawyer to join the growing Legal &amp; Regulatory team reporting to the London based Managing Director for Legal.  The Associate will be part of the team responsible for negotiating distribution agreements, and other product distribution-related agreements with the wealth management intermediary channels and platforms in relation to Brookfield private wealth and registered funds as well as providing legal support to the private wealth EMEA, APAC and LATAM teams.The role will support the team on a range of matters, including advising on the regulation, establishment, management, governance and marketing of Brookfield’s investment funds within the wealth management channels.  The investment funds in scope include closed end private funds, open end private funds, evergreen funds and global feeder funds into the above funds.  The candidate will collaborate with legal and regulatory personnel and teams as needed, and engage with external counsel to ensure alignment of legal and regulatory approach(es).Key Responsibilities <ul><li>Negotiate distribution agreements, selling agreements and other product distribution-related agreements with the wealth management intermediary channels and platforms in relation to Brookfield private wealth, fund and evergreen products.</li><li>Engage with Brookfield’s internal and external legal counsel throughout negotiation of agreements with wealth management intermediaries.</li><li>Engage with personnel from technology platform partners that Brookfield contracts with to develop feeder fund structures for onshore and offshore distribution of products through wealth management intermediaries.</li><li>Advise the business on cross border sale of US and EU funds together with any offshore feeder funds into jurisdictions across EMEA.</li><li>Assist in responding to due diligence queries from prospective investors specific to the legal structure of Brookfield funds.</li></ul>Candidate Profile<ul><li>LLB or equivalent from an accredited institution.</li><li>Licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the UK.</li><li>2+ years of experience, previous in-house experience would be a bonus but will consider candidates from private practice with good experience with a focus on private funds and/or evergreen offerings and distribution-related matters.</li><li>Working knowledge of, and experience working with and applying, the regulatory requirements and restrictions that apply to the marketing and distribution of private funds and evergreen offerings on a global basis.</li><li>Experience negotiating placement agent agreements, dealer agreements, platform/services agreements.</li><li>Strong client orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to give commercial advice and guidance to internal clients.</li><li>Desire to work in a team‐based entrepreneurial environment with an ability to collaborate and build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness</li><li>Solid written and verbal communication.</li><li>Resourceful, commercial and proactive when issues arise.</li><li>Able to establish priorities, work on multiple assignments, meet competing deadlines and work in a dynamic, fast-paced global environment.</li></ul>#LI-GJ1Brookfield is committed to maintaining a Positive Work Environment that is safe and respectful; our shared success depends on it.  Accordingly, we do not tolerate workplace discrimination, violence or harassment.We are proud to create a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
