If you're ready to make a real impact in a company that's redefining heavy industry for a cleaner, smarter world, we want to hear from you.What you will do:  As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will contribute to the design and development of advanced process technology for Electra’s pilot and industrial-scale operations. This position focuses on creating robust, cost-effective mechanical systems that support efficient plant performance and long service life. Responsibilities include:<ul><li>Design and continuously improve industrial systems and plant layouts using 3D modeling software based on defined design parameters, functional requirements, and equipment lists.</li><li>Integrate components and equipment into complete mechanical and process systems.</li><li>Create and maintain designs for skid-mounted systems, processing tanks, and vessels, including mechanical, process, instrumentation, and automation documentation packages.</li><li>Create and maintain pilot‑plant processing system designs and full documentation packages (mechanical, process, instrumentation, and automation).</li><li>Prepare detailed drawings for weldments, assemblies, and components using CAD tools for both in‑house and vendor manufacturing.</li><li>Use PDM systems to properly control and revise designs and manage standard part libraries.</li><li>Utilize and maintain engineering Vault/PDM systems, including part numbering, data cards, engineering release workflows, and change management.</li><li>Read, understand, and comply with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.</li></ul>What we need you to bring to the team:   Education &amp; Experience<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of mechanical design experience.</li></ul>Mechanical &amp; Industrial Design Skills<ul><li>Proficiency with 3D equipment layouts, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and pipe/tube/duct routing in plant processing environments.</li><li>Experience designing skid-mounted systems, processing tanks, vessels, and structural frames.</li><li>Experience integrating automation hardware, control systems, and robotics into industrial mechanical designs.</li></ul>Manufacturing &amp; Scale-Up<ul><li>Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and New Product Introduction (NPI) to transition prototypes into scalable, production-ready solutions.</li></ul>Industrial &amp; Plant Knowledge<ul><li>Knowledge of large, complex industrial facilities such as minerals processing, chemical plants, or similar environments, including equipment and subsystem interactions.</li></ul>Safety, Human Factors &amp; Ergonomics<ul><li>Demonstrated ability to incorporate human factors, ergonomics, and operational safety into industrial system designs.</li></ul>Tools &amp; Software<ul><li>Strong experience using SolidWorks for modeling, assemblies, and drawings.</li></ul>Mindset &amp; Environment Fit<ul><li>Passion for sustainability and interest in disruptive, innovative technologies.</li><li>Highly self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.</li><li>Previous experience working in a startup or high-growth setting.</li></ul> Preferred <ul><li>Additional experience integrating automation hardware, controls, or robotics beyond baseline requirements.</li><li>Advanced proficiency with complex 3D layouts and routing for processing environments.</li><li>Background designing for aggressive media, corrosive liquids, or high-temperature industrial environments.</li><li>Deeper familiarity with large-scale industrial systems across mining, oil &amp; gas, chemical, or power generation.</li><li>Additional experience applying DFM/NPI methodologies in full production scale-up.</li><li>Experience applying advanced safety, ergonomics, and human-factor frameworks.</li><li>Advanced SolidWorks capability, including PDM/Vault workflows and library management.</li><li>Additional experience working in a startup or rapid-growth technical environment.</li></ul>Compensation:   <ul><li>The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $100,000-$126,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  </li></ul>Benefits For You:  <ul><li>100% paid premiums across all medical, dental, vision, telemedicine, short-term disability, long-term disability, and basic life insurance plans </li><li>Reasonable use PTO </li><li>$1,800 in annual employer HSA contributions (health savings account) </li></ul>Benefits For Your Family:  <ul><li>100% paid premiums across all medical, dental, vision, and telemedicine plans </li><li>12 weeks of paid parental leave </li></ul>Benefits For Your Future:  <ul><li>401k with up to 5% matching contributions which vest 100% on day one  </li><li>Eligibility for incentive stock options </li></ul>If you need an accommodation during the application or interview process, reach out to us at <a href="mailto:careers@electra.earth">careers@electra.earth</a> We’re here to help.
