The Emergency Response Supervisor is responsible for training, mentoring and organizing crews. Overseeing and arranging onsite equipment, supervising and ensuring the smooth operation of the site and keeping detailed organized records of site activities. The ER Supervisor will provide the controls and mechanisms necessary to support effective communications, as well as ensure a safe working environment. They are responsible for the facilitated control of the site and all employees and contractors upon the site.  <h3>Job Duties</h3><ul><li>Working closely and collaboratively with the Emergency Response Manager and other key team members, to actively oversee and supervise the successful execution of projects as assigned.</li><li>Direct responsibility for scheduling people, equipment, and related resources, coordinating the overall flow of project activity, and proactively updating issues with those who need to know.</li><li>Develop, maintain, and implement project management procedures to accurately track and control costs associated with projects.</li><li>Manage and attend all Health and Safety meetings, participate in GFL’s health and safety program, as well as train employees on any safety issues.</li><li>Adapt to changing project and customer circumstances by developing workable and cost-effective contingency plans that respect overall project guidelines and contribute to planned outcomes.</li><li>Develop and strengthen relationships with customers and business (sub) contractors.</li><li>Troubleshooting, problem solving, and effective communication are key success factors in sustaining relationships within the project work environment.</li><li>Ensure the highest degree of compliance with standards and regulations related to Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental legislation in all phases of project activity.</li><li>Actively contribute as required to ensure that projects maintain forward momentum. This will require a high degree of hands-on versatility with the ability to supervise work and operate equipment at job sites, consult with customers and execute contingency plans in a timely manner, and secure replacement or additional resources on jobs.</li><li>As capacity and business flow may dictate, assist Operations or other departments within the business through support with project management, quality control or process audits, or additional related and complementary duties.</li><li>Follow all established organizational policies and procedures.</li><li>Support the vision and values of the organization.</li><li>Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence.</li><li>Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others.</li><li>Reporting workplace hazards, accidents or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others.</li><li>Adhere to the Occupational Health &amp; Safety Act, Workplace Safety &amp; Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act.</li><li>Participate in team/staff meetings when required.</li><li>Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and minimizes risk.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in a related field of study.</li><li>Minimum 4 years in an supervisor role along with spill response clean up and remediation.</li><li>Knowledge of project coordination and related logistics.</li><li>Experience and strong knowledge with excavation equipment.</li><li>Excellent team player, ability to listen, analyze and adapt to change.</li><li>Ability to travel often throughout Ontario, responding to on-call customer needs.</li><li>Progressive experience in the environmental or waste management industry is considered an asset.</li><li>Solid understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental legislation as it relates to remediation and waste management projects.</li><li>Superior problem-solving and project troubleshooting skills.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to effectively handle unanticipated issues that require urgent decision making.</li><li>Above average communication and interpersonal skills with strong ability to negotiate outcomes that to the greatest extent possible meet the needs of all parties.</li><li>Ability to work independently while contributing to a team effort, and a willingness to be very hands-on.</li><li>Valid G Class license and comfortable driving a vehicle for various work related needs.</li><li>Valid Certification in First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).</li><li>Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.</li></ul>#GFLTalent<ul></ul>  We thank you for your interest.
