Expect a base of $150k-$250k (location-adjusted) plus equity compensation.<h2>Role</h2>Piq Energy is seeking an innovative Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our team. You will develop, deploy, and maintain user-facing applications, backend APIs, databases, and cloud deployment infrastructure. As part of our dynamic startup environment, you will have opportunities to own features and shape our user experience and technical architecture. You'll collaborate within our team of software engineers, power systems experts, data scientists, and designers to deliver a powerful and performant SaaS platform.Piq’s technical stack includes:<ul><li>Backend: Python, FastAPI, LLM agents, Postgres, Temporal, AWS</li><li>Frontend: Typescript, Svelte, GraphQL, Mapbox, D3.js</li></ul>There’s no need to be an expert in all parts of our stack - it’s more important that you’re good at learning quickly.Piq is a remote-friendly company, with hubs in San Francisco, CA, and Athens, Greece. Our SF team works in-person in our coworking space 2-3 days per week. We value time together and meet across the team for on-sites 2-3 times per year.Our interview process consists of a phone screen, two technical interviews, and a call with our founders.<h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Develop and maintain end-to-end features across backend APIs, data pipelines, AI agents, and interactive frontends</li><li>Lead workstreams end-to-end, including gathering product requirements, proposing solution architectures, developing an implementation plan, managing technical dependencies, and coordinating rollout plans</li><li>Collaborate directly with users and customer-facing teammates to gather feedback and understand their needs, translating insights into design solutions</li><li>Build and maintain data-rich, interactive frontend applications</li><li>Scale our backend APIs, systems, and data pipelines to support more use cases, while ensuring maintainability and paying down technical debt</li><li>Uphold the technical bar as you build, ensuring our platform is performant, scalable, and secure</li><li>Provide hands-on mentorship and feedback for teammates</li><li>Write clean, maintainable code following best practices</li><li>Participate in and lead design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning meetings</li><li>Contribute to improving software engineering practices, with a bias toward action, ensuring fast iterations and delivery of impactful solutions</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>6+ years of software engineering industry experience delivering high-quality software</li><li>Experience building scalable software starting from user needs</li><li>Deep experience in one of the following areas, plus willingness to work across the stack as needed:<ul><li>Building data-intensive backend systems with Python or a similar language</li><li>Developing interactive data-rich frontend applications with modern JavaScript frameworks</li></ul></li><li>Experience owning successful software delivery end-to-end</li><li>Experience with version control, testing, and debugging tools</li><li>Ability to help evolve a growing engineering team</li><li>Comfort with LLM coding tools like Cursor and Claude Code</li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a bias towards action</li><li>Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment</li><li>Experience improving DevOps (IaC, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure) and supporting security compliance is a strong plus</li><li>Experience delivering for enterprise customers is a strong plus</li><li>Experience with workflow orchestration and LLM APIs and frameworks is a plus</li></ul><h3>About Piq Energy</h3>Piq Energy’s mission is to accelerate the energy transition by automating power grid simulation and analysis for project developers and utilities.<h4>Our values</h4><ul><li>Kindness: Be kind and candid to yourself and others.</li><li>Excellence: Aim high and continuously improve.</li><li>Sustainability: Consider your capacity to maintain your self, your communities, and the environment.</li><li>Humility: Serve a greater goal, stay curious and open to learning</li><li>Freedom and Responsibility: You have the freedom to make decisions and the responsibility to take ownership of those decisions.</li></ul><h4>Why join us</h4><ul><li>Shape the future of the power grid</li><li>Work with a passionate, mission-driven team.</li><li>Collaborate in a global, remote-friendly environment.</li><li>Be part of the early team and contribute to shaping the company’s direction.</li></ul><h2>Accessibility</h2>Piq Energy encourages individuals of all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and all gender and sexual identities to apply for this position.
