Incumbents are expected to develop intermediate skills and the ability to work with greater independence.Responsibilities<ul><li>Clearly understand the importance of company safe work practices and safety rules</li><li>Basic understanding of the Human Performance Tools and requirements </li><li>Basic understanding of the isolation of substation equipment and grounding practices</li><li>Demonstrates good verbal and written communications skills</li><li>Basic understanding of electrical drawings (substation equipment schematics and power system drawings)</li><li>Basic understanding NERC compliance and the importance for accurate data and timely completion of assigned work</li><li>Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills</li><li>Develops the ability to think methodically and arrange activities in logical order</li><li>Basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics systems </li><li>Exposure to Transmission and Distribution system switching activities</li><li>Develop a basic understanding of AC and DC basic principles</li><li>Demonstrate the basic ability to operate bucket, digger derrick truck and other areal devices</li></ul>Basic/Required Qualifications <ul><li>High school diploma or GED</li></ul>Additional Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Experience in Electrical, Maintenance, and/or Construction</li><li>Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance</li><li>Develops positive working relationships and effective oral and written communication skills</li><li>Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally</li><li>Demonstrated ability to pass panel review by meeting or exceeding requirements for step progression   </li><li>Software skills including word process, email, spreadsheets etc.</li><li>Basic written and oral communication skills</li></ul>Working Conditions<ul><li>Demonstrated availability for after- hour’s work</li><li>Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.</li><li>Ability to work in a diverse environment with individuals from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds</li><li>Must be capable of working on elevated work surfaces</li><li>This position is based out on North and South Carolina</li><li>Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.</li></ul>Specific Requirements<ul><li>Must have a valid State Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a CDL Class A Driver’s License in the state for which you are hired.</li><li>Must pass appropriate level of Duke aptitude test.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to pass panel review by meeting or exceeding requirements for step progression.</li><li>This position has a residency requirement. You must reside within 30 minutes of the assigned operations site. In order to meet with aforementioned position requirement, you will be required to relocate from your current residence within 12 months of your start date. Relocation will be entirely at your own expense.</li><li>This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job.
