Job description The Student Assistant in IT Administration supports the smooth operation of Climate Analytics’ IT environment and ensures that staff have reliable access to the tools and systems they need to work efficiently. In close collaboration with our experienced IT Administrator and our external IT service provider, the working student contributes to day-to-day IT support, user onboarding and offboarding, and basic device setup and maintenance. Through this position, the student will gain hands-on experience in IT operations, user support, and system administration — contributing directly to the reliability, security, and efficiency of the Climate Analytics’ IT infrastructure. In addition, you will support IT projects (with supervision), such as documentation and process improvement initiatives - an opportunity to learn new tools and best practices and get hands-on experience in IT operations and user support. Responsibilities 1. IT Support and Ticket Handling (35–45%)<ul><li>Assist in managing incoming IT support tickets, helping to diagnose and resolve basic software, hardware, and access issues.</li><li>Provide friendly, timely, and solution-oriented support to employees across all departments.</li></ul> 2. Device Setup and Maintenance (25–35%)<ul><li>Prepare, configure, and update laptops (primarily macOS, some Windows) for new and existing employees.</li><li>Support regular device maintenance tasks such as system updates, security checks, and troubleshooting.</li><li>Help maintain an accurate inventory of devices and peripherals.</li></ul> 3. System and Server Administration (with Supervision) (10–15%)<ul><li>Support the IT Administration Officer and external IT service provider in monitoring internal servers and hosted tools.</li><li>Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as restarting services or checking system status, under guidance.</li><li>Help ensure regular backups and data integrity checks are completed.</li></ul> 4. Documentation and Process Improvement (10–15%)<ul><li>Contribute to documenting IT procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.</li><li>Help identify opportunities to streamline IT workflows or improve user documentation.</li><li>Assist in maintaining records related to software licenses and system configurations.</li></ul> 5. Security and Compliance Support (5–10%)<ul><li>Follow IT security guidelines and support implementation of best practices (e.g., password policies, device encryption, access control).</li></ul> Your profile Essential Criteria Education and Experience<ul><li>Currently enrolled in a university program, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.</li><li>Some prior hands-on experience with computers and operating systems (e.g., through studies, internships, or personal projects).</li><li>Comfortable communicating and collaborating in English within an international environment.</li></ul> Specific Expertise Required<ul><li>Basic understanding of IT systems and user support principles.</li><li>Interest in learning about device management, user administration, and IT security.</li><li>Reliable, structured, and service-oriented approach to work.</li><li>Core Technical Skills</li><li>Familiarity with macOS and basic knowledge of Windows operating systems.</li><li>General understanding of tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom, or similar collaboration platforms.</li><li>Willingness and ability to learn new systems and administrative tools quickly.</li></ul> Desirable Criteria Preferred / Asset Experience<ul><li>Basic understanding of network or server administration concepts (e.g., FTP, SSH, SSL).</li><li>Some experience with cloud-based systems or IT ticketing tools.</li><li>Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, Monday.com, or Microsoft 365.</li></ul> Other Desirable Skills<ul><li>Good communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.</li><li>Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and manage priorities.</li></ul> Our offer <ul><li>A job with purpose.
