You’ll join a close-knit engineering team that values impact, humility, and collaboration, and that takes pride in building lasting relationships while tackling hard problems. In this role, you will play a central part in optimizing Antora’s balance of plant (BOP) systems for both cost and performance. You will develop, own, and continuously refine cost models that integrate data from a wide range of technical and commercial sources. These models will serve as a core, iterative tool to guide the design and evolution of cost-optimized, high-performance plant processes and mechanical and electrical architectures.You will also scope, define, and design BOP systems and equipment for Antora’s commercial thermal energy storage projects. As a key technical contributor within a fast-growing, cross-functional organization, your work will directly support the testing, deployment, and scaling of an innovative long-duration energy storage technology. Roles &amp; Responsibilities <ul><li>Create and own models for equipment, system and plant costs; continuously update models as data is gathered from our constructed projects</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Perform engineering trade-off case studies that balance performance, cost, and schedule to drive architectural alignment via quick (spreadsheet) and thorough (model-based) approaches.</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Work hand-in-hand with other engineering teams (SW/controls, battery engineering, project execution, etc.) at Antora to develop the simplest, lowest-cost, highest performing BOP system</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Define and own system process requirements and specifications, including heat &amp; mass balance (HMB), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), and Process &amp; Instrumentation Diagrams (P&amp;ID).</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Review cross functional team designs (equipment specs, piping design, etc) to ensure they meet the process requirements.</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Participate in PHAs, HAZOP, and/or HAZID workshops.</li></ul>Key Qualifications<ul><li style="font-size:10pt;">Bachelors or equivalent in an engineering field (e.g. chemical, mechanical, process,  industrial, etc.) and 8+ years’ experience in industrial applications engineering (oil &amp; gas, chemicals, power plants, etc.)</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Experience designing or specifying industrial mechanical equipment such as: Pressure Vessels, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Air Coolers, Fans, Tanks, Piping, Valves.</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Working knowledge of industrial mechanical design codes. ASME Section I and VIII, Div. 1, ASME B31.1 and B31.3, API 650, API 610, TEMA, ASTM.</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Critical thinking and problem solving skills, ability to think about problems from a first-principles perspective</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Experience working independently, as well as work in a team-orientated and fast-paced startup-like environments</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Proven ability to lead and operate comfortably across many engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluids, optical, controls)</li></ul>Additional Qualifications Desired "Nice to have" but not required<ul><li style="font-size:10pt;">Deep engineering experience and intuition, ideally with background in: High-temperature thermal systems, Energy and power conversion, First principle engineering analyses</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Use of one or more of AutoCAD, Solidworks, COMSOL, ANSYS, Chemcad, Aspen EDR, HYSYS, HTRI</li><li style="font-size:10pt;">Holds a PE in a related discipline</li></ul>Work Location:  Onsite - San Jose, CASalary Range:  $104,000 USD - $155,000 USDSalary Basis:  AnnualPlease note that the salary range listed above reflects Antora Energy's estimated pay for this position.
