Summary of Position The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring all projects comply with local, state, and federal health and safety guidelines and procedures. The Health and Safety Specialist will ensure the safety of all employees, make sure all projects are up to code, and provide advice and recommendations for safety improvements.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities <ul><li>Comply with all occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. </li><li>Inspect worksites and review working conditions. </li><li>Document reports of occurrences and record statistical information. </li><li>Develop and implement OHS training programs. </li><li>Maintain safety regulations during installation/repairs. </li><li>Oversee disposal of substances according to environmental guidelines </li><li>Ensure statures, regulations and codes are clearly understood and met. </li><li>Intervene to stop any acts of processes which are unsafe or do not comply with OHS guidelines. </li><li>Implement preventative measures to ensure unsafe processes are not repeated. </li><li>Ensure all personnel follow all personal safety precautions (protective glasses, gloves, hardhats, etc.) </li><li>Providing training and educational opportunities for production associates and other relevant personnel in coordination with appropriate department personnel </li><li>Conducting and reviewing post-accident and safety violation investigations pursuant to company policies and procedures as well as state laws and regulations. </li><li>Update procedures and policies for new regulations or local ordinances</li><li>Flexibility to work nights or weekends as needed is helpful. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul>
