This position is expected to work safely under all circumstances and to seek guidance for any work for which they are unfamiliar or do not feel competent to perform safely. Required Training: Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend mandatory five (5) week training and certification course at the start of their employment. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.<h2>Responsibilities</h2>Responsibilities:<ul> <li>In the field: <ul> <li>Performs preventative maintenance on wind turbines, utility scale photovoltaic power plants and storage systems.</li> <li>Under the supervision of an experienced technician, performs troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/ revisions to a broad range of equipment in the renewable industry.</li> <li>Properly completes Job Safety Assessments, applies LOTOs by following LOTO plans &amp; procedures, identifies &amp; reports all safety hazards on jobsite and suggest improvements, and attends safety meetings.</li> <li>Participates in the 24hr/weekly “On Call” rotation &amp; work outside business hours when needed.</li> <li>Attends safety and technical training required for this position.</li> </ul></li> <li>Administrative duties, such as documenting completed jobs, implementing supply orders. Complete daily work orders, time tracking and any other required paperwork for the specific project/assignment.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Supervision of Others: NoneWorking Conditions: 100% of time is spent working in the renewable asset field. There is also marginal time spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. This position requires working on platforms or skids, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and the repetitive use of legs, arms, hands, and fingers. The employee will work eight (8) hours a day, forty (40) hours a week, and overtime and night shifts as required. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to:<ul> <li>Extreme weather conditions, including cold, heat, rain, wind, etc.</li> <li>High voltage and stored energy</li> <li>Moving mechanical parts and vibration</li> <li>Confined spaces</li> <li>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.</li></ul>Fiscal Responsibilities: All levels of the organization must be fiscally responsible on the company's behalf.<h2>Qualifications</h2>Education/Experience:<ul> <li>High school Diploma or equivalent required.</li> <li>2 to 4 years of experience in renewable energy or a similar discipline.</li> <li>Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards.</li></ul>Required Certifications:<ul> <li>OSHA 10 or equivalent certification.</li> <li>Basic Safety Training (BST) certification under the Global Wind Organization.</li> <li>Basic Technical Training (BTT) certification under the Global Wind Organization.</li> <li>Control of Hazardous Energies (CoHE) certification under the Global Wind Organization.</li> <li>Slinger and Signaler certification under the Global Wind Organization.</li> <li>NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B or equivalent certification.</li></ul>Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:<ul> <li>Must possess a valid current driver’s license and successfully meet organizational requirements to operate motor vehicles.</li> <li>Requires basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components of wind turbines/ photovoltaic power and energy storage systems.</li> <li>Familiar with CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E and able to identify the appropriate PPE required for specific tasks and environments.</li> <li>Requires basic understanding of schematics and can use a multi-meter correctly.</li> <li>Able to demonstrate basic computer knowledge.</li> <li>Able to follow both verbal and written instructions.</li> <li>Good verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Successfully complete applicable safety and technical training program for the entry level technician. </li> <li>Ability to understand, read, write, and speak clearly in English.</li></ul>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Physical Requirements:<ul> <li>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
