Job Description:Americas Trade Senior SpecialistHybrid - 4 Days a Week | Guadalajara, MX or Mexico City, MX.The Americas Trade Senior Specialist plays a key role in advancing Nextpower’s mission across North and South America by ensuring trade compliance excellence in support of our growing renewable energy footprint. This position provides operational leadership and technical expertise across regional trade activities, driving consistent execution, strengthening processes, and aligning compliance practices across markets.Operating with significant autonomy, the role leads complex trade initiatives, enhances compliance frameworks, and ensures customs operations and trade data integrity meet regulatory and internal standards. As a critical regional contributor, this position enables compliant market access, supports efficient cross-border operations, and contributes to sustainable growth across the Americas.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Provide operational leadership across Americas trade compliance activities, ensuring consistent execution and adherence to regional policies and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Manage U.S. customs operations, including oversight of importer-of-record activities, entry accuracy, broker performance, post-entry reviews, recordkeeping compliance, and coordination with U.S. CBP as needed.</li><li>Serve as the senior technical resource for complex trade matters, including classification, valuation, origin, tariff application, trade remedies, and customs compliance issues.</li><li>Lead cross-regional trade initiatives and projects, including process enhancements, system improvements, data governance efforts, and standardization activities.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement of regional controls, documentation standards, post-entry processes, and audit readiness.</li><li>Own trade data integrity across ERP and GTM systems, including HS classification, country of origin, valuation methodology, and tariff management.</li><li>Oversee regional inputs to the Global Tariff Model, including duty tracking, exposure analysis, financial impact reporting, and scenario support.</li><li>Lead Mexico trade compliance activities as needed, with flexibility to scale involvement as regional activity evolves.</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, Law, or related field.</li><li>Minimum 8–10+ years of progressive experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or global trade roles. (5 Years of direct experience may be considered).</li><li>Demonstrated experience independently managing complex trade compliance matters across multiple countries.</li><li>Strong technical expertise in customs compliance fundamentals (classification, valuation, origin, tariff regulations).</li><li>Experience leading regional projects or operational initiatives without formal people management responsibility.</li><li>Experience working with ERP and trade compliance systems; Oracle and/or Global Trade Management (GTM) experience preferred.</li><li>Advanced data analytics capability, including ability to analyze trade data, identify risk trends, and support financial decision-making.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Experience supporting both North America and LATAM trade environments.</li><li>Familiarity with Mexico trade compliance operations.</li><li>Trade compliance certifications (CCS, CES, or equivalent).</li><li>Experience supporting internal or external audits.</li></ul>Skills &amp; Competencies<ul><li>Strong technical depth in trade compliance regulations</li><li>Ability to operate independently with sound judgment</li><li>Strong cross-functional collaboration and influence skills</li><li>Project leadership capability without formal authority</li><li>Analytical and structured problem-solving approach</li><li>High accountability and ownership mindset</li></ul>Language Requirements<ul><li>English: Fluent</li><li>Spanish: Fluent</li><li>Portuguese: Preferred but not required</li></ul>At Nextpower, we are driving the global energy transition with an integrated clean energy technology platform that combines intelligent structural, electrical, and digital solutions for utility-scale power plants.
