This role involves preparing shipments, verifying incoming materials, maintaining inventory records, and supporting overall warehouse operations. The ideal candidate possesses attention to detail, familiarity with shipping procedures, and a commitment to workplace safety.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Prepare shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determine the most economical and efficient shipping method.</li><li>Select appropriate shipping containers and pack items to ensure safe delivery.</li><li>Prepare bills of lading and check items against work orders to confirm quantities, destinations, and routing.</li><li>Receive and unload incoming materials; verify accuracy against packing slips and purchase orders.</li><li>Process return shipments from customers as needed.</li><li>Sort, count, package, label, insure, unpack, and log inventory that is shipped or received.</li><li>Inspect shipments for damages or defects; record discrepancies and notify supervisor or purchasing personnel.</li><li>Deliver items to requisitioning departments and obtain authorized signatures.</li><li>Trace lost shipments and process proof of delivery documents.</li><li>Maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.</li><li>Operate dolly, pallet jack, forklift, shrink-wrap machine, and company vehicle for loading, unloading, and delivery.</li><li>Assist with routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area; lock warehouse and set alarms as needed.</li><li>Follow established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, and safety standards.</li><li>Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.</li><li>Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.</li></ul>Required Qualifications:<ul><li>Knowledge of postal and commercial shipping methods and procedures.</li><li>Familiarity with accreditation and certification requirements.</li><li>Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic.</li><li>Ability to receive, stock, and deliver goods.</li><li>Ability to track and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.</li><li>Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.</li><li>Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork and maintain records.</li><li>Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures.</li><li>Ability to detect problems and communicate issues to appropriate personnel.</li><li>Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.</li></ul>Why Xylem? We believe in supporting our employees both professionally and personally.
