Together we can transform the future of energy.<h2>Responsibilities</h2>Join us in leading the change!We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Transmission Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in transmission line design and provide best practices for related projects. This role involves utilizing advanced tools like PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS-Tower and industry standards to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality designs. The candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support infrastructure projects in the power transmission and distribution sector.  How you can make an impact: Key Responsibilities:<ul> <li>Lead transmission design of projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV+ from conceptual phase through design completion.</li> <li>Oversee/Perform calculations, modeling, and analysis, including; Conductor and shield wire selection; Structure loading and analysis; Stringing, sag-tension, and clearance studies.</li> <li>Prepare transmission equipment specifications and data sheets, Requests for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations</li> <li>Complete skillsets in modeling transmission lines in the PLS suite, preparing route alignments, preparing plan and profiles, detailed knowledge of hardware assemblies and conductors, structure detail drawings and BOMs.</li> <li>Experience developing assembly, framing, loading and design drawings for wood, concrete, steel, FRP, and lattice transmission structures</li> <li>Experience in related electrical studies, such as EMF, fault current, grounding, lightning, induction, impedance, losses and voltage drop design for transmission line design. </li> <li>Act as a liason with clients and contractors, coordinating with various disciplines and permitting agencies and excercising project management skills. </li> <li>Experience with geotechnical data interpretation for foundation design and embedment calculations for a variety of transmission structures types and geotechnical requirements. </li> <li>Ability to communicate with survey and GIS personnel, interpret survey data, and incorporate it into PLS-CADD models. </li> <li>Ensure designs meet industry codes (ACSE, NESC, AISC, and IEEE) and client specific standards</li> <li>Experience with ROW analysis, permitting processes and environmental regulations. </li></ul> General Responsibilities:<ul> <li>Conduct site visits to gather data, assess conditions, and support construction as needed.</li> <li>Perform load calculations, stress analysis, and structural optimization for transmission line components.</li> <li>Collaborate with project managers, drafters, and other engineers to deliver projects on time and within budget.</li> <li>Conduct quality checks on designs and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.</li> <li>Provide engineering support during construction, including addressing RFI (Requests for Information) and field modifications.</li> <li>Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and changes to design codes and standards.</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2>Bring your passion, here's what’s needed: Education:<ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).</li> <li>Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one within 12 months.</li></ul>Experience:<ul> <li>8+ years of experience in the design of overhead and underground high voltage and extra high voltage transmission lines including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design &amp; analysis, and development of construction bid package.</li> <li>Proficiency in using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, L-Pile, NFAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.</li> <li>Experience in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000).</li> <li>Familiarity with substation design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation.</li></ul>Skills:<ul> <li>Strong understanding of industry standards such as ASCE, ACI, AISC, NESC, and IEEE.</li> <li>Knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation design, and geotechnical principles.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.</li></ul>Preferred Skills:<ul> <li>Familiarity with GIS, LIDAR, and terrain modeling for transmission line routing.</li> <li>Experience with stormwater management and site grading for substations.</li></ul>How we support you:<ul> <li>Comprehensive health and wellness benefits including medical, dental, and vision with 100% premium coverage for you.</li> <li>Generous PTO and paid holidays</li> <li>Continuous Education Benefits</li> <li>Work with industry leaders</li> <li>401K, up to a 4% match (100% vested from day 1)</li> <li>Flexible Work including hybrid and remote possibilities based on position.</li></ul>Location: This position will be remoteTravel:  Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less) EPE is an equal opportunity/AA/Disability/Veteran employer.
