About this JobPeak Energy is looking for a talented Systems Engineer to play a central role in the development and launch of Peak battery energy storage systems. This role influences all aspects of product development including design, modeling, integration and testing, manufacturing, and operation in the field. The Systems Engineer ensures that both the design and the final, assembled product meet the company and customer needs. This position is highly collaborative, requires strong technical and personal skills, and has an immense impact on the success of the product. The ideal candidate has strong battery and engineering fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and a deep dedication to Peak’s mission. Roles and Responsibilities<ul><li>Define and manage system and subsystem requirements for Peak’s battery energy storage system products</li><li>Develop and own system-level budgets, decomposing top-level requirements into subsystem allocations</li><li>Create and oversee verification of requirements including determining test plans, analyzing and reviewing results, providing the final say on the outcome of the verification</li><li>Drive future architecture changes, evaluate tradeoffs on, and lead cross-functional decision-making efforts</li><li>Support and mentor fellow engineers by communicating system-level impacts to inform and improve their designs</li><li>Act as the subject matter expert for customer-facing documents such as service and operation manuals and technical reports</li><li>Support UL, NFPA, and UN compliance efforts, providing technical expertise and guidance</li></ul> Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline</li><li>5+ years working with high voltage electrical systems</li><li>Mastery of electrical, thermal, and mechanical fundamentals</li><li>Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (requirement decomposition, verification and validation, interface management)</li><li>Strong analysis tool skills (e.g. Excel, Python, MATLAB)</li><li>Experience evaluating complex, multi-disciplinary tradeoffs and driving cross-functional decision making</li><li>Excellent organization and proficiency at creating robust and informative documentation</li><li>Cross-functional project management experience</li><li>Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills</li><li>Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovation</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Experience with high voltage battery systems</li><li>Product design experience with high-volume products</li><li>Experience with a requirements management tool (e.g. Jama, Polarion, Flow)</li><li>Proficiency with Jira for task tracking and documentation</li></ul> Peak Energy Core Values <ul><li>Speed Through Focus: Prioritize what matters most and execute quickly without distractions. </li></ul><ul><li>Mission Over Self: Put the company's mission and team success ahead of individual interests. </li></ul><ul><li>Face the Brutal Truth: Embrace honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable, to make informed decisions. </li></ul><ul><li>Be a Good Person: Treat everyone with respect and integrity, fostering a positive and ethical work environment. </li></ul>The salary range for this role is $170,000 - $200,000, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills.
